Third receiver is easy in the draft. There are 20+ starting receivers in this draft. Linebackers are easy in the draft. Can get a surefire starter late in round 2. Defensive line and cornerback are where we will need to either get more in free agency or spend a 1st to get a difference emaket and you can't do that for both positions when you only have one first.
The danger with Ekeler is age. He's a year older and signed a 2 year deal. So you're getting age 29 and 30 Ekeler for age 28 Mixon. I would want a bigger gap in talent to take that risk. Some of that is mitigated by Ekeler having less usage, but that doesn't mean age won't factor.
Maybe not, but they're not losing it either. I think many of us had these big splashy ideas for how this offseason was going to play out, but there was also the reality of the sheer number of free agents on this roster and the number of holes they had to fill. They're not getting top 2-3 guys in each free agent position class, but they're getting above average starters on reasonable contracts at key areas of need. I think you could make a strong case they've made some incremental improvements already, and there's still a ton of the offseason left to go.
Until I see an improvement to the DL, I'm still unsatisfied with what's happened. We are arguably worst in that front than last season.
I don't want Chase Young. He's selective about how hard he plays. This is apparently why Washington traded him before his rookie contract was up and he continued this trend on the 49ers (though he was decent in the SB). Joey Bosa can be counted on to produce when healthy.
Henry was the guy I really wanted for this team. I personally don't think he's washed and I think he would excel on this team. But he ended up getting more money than I thought he would, so I'm kind of okay with Mixon (the kind of is reservation about a guy that does what he's done off the field). The rest of their FA period so far I'm reasonably happy with. It would have been nice to see some of the bigger FAs get signed by us (except Saquon -- quite glad that didn't work out), but I don't like them way overpaying for those guys.
its not arguable. Right now the dline is worse. But they can get that solved easily still to hold serve
I would agree that as of right now, they're worse on the DL than they were last season. You obviously want to see the team go BPA in the draft, but I have to think that's an area they want to address in the first two rounds, assuming there's not another big signing coming around the corner. Same thing with the secondary.
I don’t get this. Most media(mainstream and non-mainstream) likes what we are doing so far. What have the Texans done or not done that is so terrible? No we didn’t overpay for a RB(got a decent one who isn’t getting paid yet) still need a safety but the market is still there, looks like CB and WR will be addressed in the draft, what has been so terrible besides not overpaying for saquan or Derrick Henry?
Can't help but think the money being spent on the DLine is going to move those three DTs up draft boards a bit.
It’s been a good offseason just not the impact player we were hoping for. All solid moves. Wish we didn’t have to spend $10+million on special teamers every year on free agency.
With wanting to trade for Burns, that means they know we're not OK with the departure of Greenard. Make the move Clowney or Hunter already. Ain't nobody got time for this. Lions haven't made many moves. I expect them to pull an Ebay Snipe on anyone getting those guys. Guessing Chargers are going to field trade offers before they cut Mack and Bosa so that's taking a bit.
