Let's say we don't make any moves before the deadline. Who do we resign? Who do we pursue?

I say Chuck Hayes comes back for the LLE. Yao, Brooks, Jeffries walk. Shane maybe comes back with a 1yr deal.

Obviously SF and C are the two biggest positions to fill and upgrade.

    So with that in mind

    SF
    ------
    Caron Butler
    Tayshaun Prince

    C
    ---------
    Nene
    Marc Gasol
    Kendrick Perkins
    Tyson Chandler
    DeAndre Jordan
    Samuel Dalembert

odds are pretty high at center of getting a good center.

    thoughts?

Nenad Kristic is also available. Before get hampered by injuries in New Jersey he was a 16/8 player. I believe he may still have some of that left in him, but its hard to show it when you have Kevin Durant, Russel Westbrook in your way. lol

Also theres Nazr Mohammed he's good veteran maybe even Kwame if we wanna go that route.

Chuck Hayes might be worth the full MLE. Maybe not, but he's pretty damn close if not.

Have to wonder if getting a couple of more Kevin Martin level players instead of a true superstar will be enough.

Say we added through trades or FA a Gerald Wallace/Iguodala/Prince level SF and a Nene/Dalembert type C to a core of Martin, Scola, and Lowry.

    Is that enough?

    Lowry
    Martin
    Wallace
    Scola
    Nene

I think the LLE is 1.6 mil next season, maybe too little for Chuck.

Starting lineup is as strong as SA in my opinion... Bench is a factor though

I understand that everyone on this site would love for the Rockets to get a superstar small forward or a good backup center, but why does everyone overlook the area of our biggest concern. The NBA is vastly becoming a point guard's league. Our biggest need for upgrade is the point guard position. You cannot win a championship with Aaron Brooks nor Kyle Lowry starting at PG. It cannot be done. Both of those guys are at best good 6th men off a good team's bench. Why don't we either trade or draft a point guard that is worth actually putting pieces around to compete for a championship? Bringing in a good point guard will also attract big time free agents.

Take a look at where Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry rank among point guards.

Kyrylo Fesenko was omitted from the center list. IMO he has the potential to be the next Marc Gasol -- not a superstar but quite competent.
