so then hopefully you're watching your bank statements and doing periodic credit checks and all that anyway, cause your name and address is everywhere.. including in the trash bin outside from all that mail you throw away.

So either way, the info is already out there, really

I did this a few years back when someone posted it and didn't have any problems. I used an old hotmail email that I check about once a month.

I get a ton of magazines free using slickdeals.net in their FREE stuff forum. MercuryMagazines.com and freebiz are great places.

Print is dying and magazines will do anything to improve their readership to maintain ad revenue. (I'm guessing.)

They send out these free offers when they need more readers to meet ad quotas -- that's a part of it anyway. I've picked up quite a few free subscriptions over the years without any problems - you can always use a fake name.

I remember when I took out a Maxim subscription back when I was 16/17. My folks gave me heck for that. Back then it was actually heavy on content and less on advertising than it is now.

    Still doesn't top the king of lad's mags-Loaded! :D

I finally finished up my free trial of Maxim a couple of months ago. I ended up just checking out the photos between the mailbox and the trashcan. (One exception: they did a great story on the female soldier from Vidor who was murdered by an NCO in Iraq.) I'd rather pay for Texas Monthly than waste my bathroom time on Maxim.

    Thanks, though.

Back in college I had free subscriptions for Maxim, Stuff, and FHM that all lasted like 5 years each. If you could find multiple of these free year subscription offers, you could add them to each other. I remember threads for all of these popping up weekly on this board back in 2002.

Anyway, they do it because more magazines in circulation = more they can charge for ad space.
