I have a strong dislike of Patrick as well. Not only for the characteristic you mentioned above but also for his effort at trying to crack jokes and/or demean or degrade athletes. WTF has Patrick ever done on the court, field, rink, etc. You're a freaking broadcaster, report sports don't instigate trouble you idiot.

Exactly, the sporting public loves this kind of stuff, that's why the media always tries to create it. Loudmouthed athlete sounds off, equally loud mouth talk show hosts/writers/radio callers condemn him, people want to watch to see him get his comeuppance, cheap morality play ensues, blah blah blah. People wouldn't say that kind of stuff if people didn't give it attention, but they do, so he plays along.
Dont know if you guys caught NFL Live today from Hawaii. They were talking so much crap about Freddie Mitchell. They ended their rant with... "Freddie was once asked what he would do with his college diploma and he responded with 'hopefully nothing'. Well, Freddie, you may need it soon because this football thing isnt working out for you." Gimme a freakin break. Talk about overreaction.
