He's far from the worst free agent signing. Mark Jackson, Joey Dorsey both times but for the sake of the argument the second time when we signed him. I can't name the worst, but those two far out weigh Fred's start. Fred's a GOOD leader and his defense alone makes him a better overall player than his predecessor.

It reminds me of this signing.

I was really high on Green and I still believe he is going to be a big super star in this league, I know Udoka is 100x better than Silas but Green might just be too young and the lessons learned from Udoka might not even payoff here in Houston which is what really frustrates me.

Thompson I'm extremely high on, I see Amen as the true future of The Rockets.... He fits Houston sooo much better than anyone else, he is very mature for his age and you can tell he is a humble kid raised right. I see he has that passion to for bball while Green is just simply really really good at it naturally without even trying.

I'm glad we got Udoka, you can tell that if he had the talent we would certainly be a contender..... Its time for Stone to get the right players in Houston and ship some of the wrong ones out....

Mark Jackson signed with the rockets on a veteran minimum to compete with Moochie Norris to be the 4th or 5th guard in 2003 - he barely played insofar as he was washed, but that hardly enters "worst free agent signing" conversation.

he was a 10th man on the minimum, he contributed the minimum, who cares?

FVV is a fine signing, he will never live up to his contract, he is a good player that lucked into a MAX deal because we are desperate.....he took the money - and he is only here 2 years - that is smart business.

Pippen was the worst signing and it isn't even close.

I think FVV is a perfect stop gap signing. I like to look at it as the Rockets brought him in to mentor some of our young guards (specifically Amen) and pilot the offense. His offensive/defensive production is a bonus to me. Now if after a year or two of Amen under his and Ime's tutelage is not ready to be the starter, I will be disappointed.

FVV hasn’t played very well and he may not in a Houston uniform. I don’t really know, but his contract is no big deal. It is a 2 year deal that doesn’t keep us from any type of acquisition. If he helps the young guys to progress it was the right move. Hopefully, he will be coming off the bench by the end of this year or early next. Amen is going to be that good.

FVV is a massive expiring contract NEXT YEAR even if all else fails, and he falls off a cliff this year. Stone has blown up every bathroom in the house, but on this signing, it is one thing I have no problem with at all.

Absolutely zero possibility he’s ever coming off the bench during his Hou tenure. Sorry. Not happening.

It just felt good saying him. He was supposed to come through and show Stevie "how to play right". I was trying to make it a point of how ridiculous this claim was that Fred is "the worst" free agent signing. He got what the market dictated for him. We didn't overpay and aren't losers in this situation.

What about that time we signed Chandler Parsons to a HUGE contract and then he got hurt almost immediately?

...oh yeah, that was Mark Cuban - hahahaha.

I don't normally agree with your takes, but you are SPOT ON about Pippen being the worst. We effectively blew up a title team to acquire guys like him and Barkley and him in particular made Houston such an unpleasant place to play that it effectively killed that era of Houston teams. It's so sad.

...reminds me of the Ty Lawson era in Houston when we were SO desperate for PG minutes that we gambled on a guy with alcohol addition issues on the way out of the league.

If he continues to disappoint he surely will. Of course, either one of us could be wrong. It really depends on Amen, not FVV.

Won't be this bad throughout the whole season but also won't be as good as what you'd expect from a 40m a year guy. We all know we paid premium to bring in the experience and credibility to develop the young guys. He did win a championship as a starting point guard, which definitely has value. I'm much more disappointed in JG appearing to settle in as this inefficient, highlight chasing player. Jabari's been bad too but still early - interested to see how he responds to adversity and grows throughout the course of the season. We have Nets' unprotected pick next year, right? They're off to a 0-2 start so hopefully they'll really suck this season. Rebuilding is hard

Is that an insult? Because I loved Mugsy Bogues. He was tough as nails. Excellent point guard.

You do realise we signed Nix as an undrafted free agent, right?

Real horrible takes in here by people who consistently deliver horrible takes. A complete misunderstanding of why we brought FVV in.

He did not win a championship as a starting PG, he started after Kawhi and then Lowry were gone post championship.

He was a starting PG for a fringe Playoff team, a borderline 1st or 2nd Round exit team yes.

Then they decided to go with Siakam as 1a and Fred as 1b.

And then Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent were challenging him for more touches.
