Thank you for this. Haven't seen it before, but it's really interesting. It's cool to see Hakeem still looking fluid at his age.
I mean to be frank, you aren't going to imporve your game that much working with Hakeem. What you are going to get is the blue prints on what you need to practice over and over to become great.. Frank Isola doesn't understand that though.
Hakeem had great footwork. His best work as a teacher has been with guys that are very athletic and fluid like Lebron and Kobe. I think Dwight may benefit more from people like CD or McHale that didn't have the guard-like balance and agility.
Not that I agree with this ISO dude, but I've been on record questioning the effectiveness of the big man camp. Doesn't matter who's hosting the camp and how good he is/was, couple of hours tutoring a day for several days ain't gonna help you much without days/years of repetition, practice and hard work...
lol this post... Just because Lebron is talented and athletic does not mean he has nothing to learn. Also, Lebron has a great perimeter game but he uses it to complement his ability to attack the basket. Learning how to post up opens up his options and, more importantly, his team's options even further.
What amuses me, when my blood's not boiling reading Isola's insults directed at a man who's one of the best who ever laced them up, is his insinuation that Dream is in this for the money. He calls it a "scam," which implies that Hakeem is looking to scarf some easy money from some chumps in the league. The absurdity of that idea is beyond the pale. Olajuwon is a rich man. Not simply from what he earned during his career, but what he did with his earnings. He invested it very wisely. The man is a very sharp businessman, who owns a great deal of valuable real estate, some of it in prime Downtown Houston property. He doesn't need to do these sessions. Hakeem does them out of his love of the game, and a desire to pass on knowledge earned over an incredible career capped with 2 championships. I expect that he charges what he does to focus the minds of the players he agrees to take on, and to show him the respect he expects from these young players. Isola is a pimple on the arse of those who cover the league. A joke, and these comments show that more clearly than anything we could say on behalf of Dream. He should be ridiculed by his peers, as he's being ridiculed by us.
reasonable statement in the sense that probably no one will be able to emulate hakeem but his sessions are probably more on the mental aspect of the game, as well.
the things that Hakeem did cannot be learned or mastered by mere mortals.. whatever little they are able to gain from his teachings are still beneficial to their game... there is only one Hakeem!!
Frank Isola is a certified LOH! If you think LOF comments are annoying, he is worse! Now he shifted his focus on Dwight. Hey, frankie boy, if you want to learn and improve your post game, you want from the best center, Hakeem!
Jeremy Lin has nothing to do with this thread just like Jeremy Lin has nothing to do with the Ice Cube thread either
But days/years of repetition, practice and hard work means nothing if you weren't taught the right way. And I'm a good example of that. I'm a self-taught Photoshop guy that has been using it for what seems like decades. Very often I'll hear or pick up a tip that changes my whole work flow for the better.
Didn't or Wasn't Hakeem donating most of the proceeds from his "scam" big man camp to his charity's when he first started?
