Seeing Cat and Moochie on the tube last night sticking up for Yao and telling how they can't wait for him to get to camp to start the building of team chemistry was a positive sign for me. I was pretty impressed with Yao. That fadeaway jumper reminded me of you know who... Hakeem... Anyways it was nice to see all the players give Yao his props I hope Francis saw Baron Davis' quote about Yao. I'm more concerned about how Yao will handle 82 games. All rookies hit the wall, but how hard will Yao? 82 games against more physical competition will be tough on his body. I think in China they played like 25 games, so this is a big jump. I know college players also make a similar jump, but Yao is going to be a big target in every game.

There are all sorts of rumors, but one item I've heard now from several people is that it is not about Yao. Francis has some issues in general (who knows what they all might be at this point?) but no one thinks he won't sign the deal. But, Yao is not an issue for Francis at this point.

Whatever little I saw of Ming was on ESPN.His mid range turnaround jumpers were excellent , he is a very good passer and intelligent.He knows how to utilize his strengths,has a very good feel for the game and remains pretty calm which are good qualities for any player. But getting 6 blocks and 11 rebounds was very impressive and I didn't think he was that good yet. The season will be long and he will have to get used to playing a number of games in succession which will be tiring and he will have to improve his physical strength and low post game but he seems to be a determined and humble young man and has a lot of upside.The stronger he gets will make it easier for him to utilize his height,dunk on people and become a better defender. I think he might be able to get 10-11 points, 7-8 rebounds and 1.5-2.0 blocks a game during the season.

Francis' quote about never being able to play with a big man reveals more about him than I ever wanted to know. There is now way he wouldn't jump at the chance to play with Shaq. Who wouldn't? And Shaq is the biggest big man out there. So I just don't buy that statement on its face. There is something else underlying his comment.

I hope Ming do start the season off, I really do but that would make to much sense; and making sense is not one of Rudy strong points. Most likely Ming would start after the all star break. Just to mention it I hope Rice don't start either, let Nachbar start at the three or any body capable playing that position other than Rice, but like I said that makes to much sense not one of Rudy strong points. By the way I think Rudy is a decent coach and can get the best out of certain players it just that hes' known for taking the Hot player out of the game when nobody else is hitting the shots.
