Steve learning a little Van Gundy-speak?...gotta love it!

Us against the world...can't beat it for uniting a team.

Thats for the up close and personal scouting report. Cato's quickness against 4s on D was one of my main concerns with him playing the PF spot for us and ultimately why I felt he wasn't an option there.

Glad to see that I am on my way to being wrong.

Because you are expecting to lose.

It's keeping the expectations low, so you wont be upset if things don't go your way. Where have I heard this before? Oh, yeah. Rudy. And it only worked one year.

Sorry, but stepping on the court and EXPECTING TO WIN is a better attitude.

The Pistons had it, the Lakers had it, the Bulls had it...That's the right "attitude!"

We beated Spur by 21 points; and Spur won against Sun by 1 point. So, mathematically we are playoff bound. Steve is wrong. Haha.

    :D :D :D

Ok, Maybe its me but maybe there's nothing to read into here. I'm one of those legendary "Francis bashers", but I don't think he said anything positive or negative. Lets just see what happens on the court. I think even those people who labled us "Francis bashers" have to be happy with that idea. And BTW I have them picked for 7th seed in the west.

I think that he just means that no-one really knows just what this team is capable of doing just yet, and that if they just keep their heads down and work hard at doing things the right way then good things are bound to happen, but its just a question of how good.

A lot of people on this board have agendas: They like Yao or don't like Yao, or like Steve or don't like Steve, etc, etc, and they spin everyone's quote to fit what they want it to say.

I swear, half this board should be running for public office.

Oh no it's never good when our leader and point guard has negative thoughts in the start of the season. If you have negative thoughts just shut your mouth jabroni! It's bad energy foo!

This is so fouled up, people just love to twist stuff don't they.

    Yao : "I don't think I can ever get to Shaq's level"

"Yao haters" : Man why is our big men so negative

"Yao lovers": O my god, he is so great so humble, so diffrent from any one else in the nba today.

    Steve: "Odds are against us"

"Steve haters" : What a crappy leader, we will never win when our leader has that attitude.

"Steve lovers" : Us against the world, JVG is rubbing off and Steve is getting it.

Stop reading too much into what our player says, darn it. Just follow the team and stop overanalysing every freaking thing.

Honestly I wish Steve spoke less to the media, he is too Mack Brown for me (one excuse after another for failling team goals, setting low expectations).

Truth be told, the Rockets absolutely should make the playoffs. If they don't every single player (Steve and Yao included) and coach should be evaluated for whether they are part of the future Rockets or not.

I would have prefer he said "We damn well are going to make the playoffs" (embracing the expectations), "and further, we are going to work so hard day in and day out that we are going to be the best damn team in the league when it is all said and done" (surpass them). But sorry, what Steve said just didn't come off that way to me--more like if we just make the 7th or 8th seed they will have done a great thing and surpassed expectations--and that just isn't true.

AMEN let forget about the comment and get on to the season . And let his play on the court actions show what he meant by his comment.
