Actually, not that I want to get into the KG or no KG argument, but he's probably the most unselfish superstar in the NBA.
man532--regardless of some of the reactionary responses, thanks for your info. Granted it has to be considered a unsubstantiated rumur--but it doesn't at all smell like Troy Barros. I wouldn't object to trading SF for a comparable player or pick. Though I know nothing from the inside, as an outsider I can say Francis's teams have performed under expectations when the going gets tough since his college days at least--that is pretty consistent over 6 years or so, it isn't that far fetched that his team winning isn't a priority above his individual success, accoldates and some other factors. Further I think the issue with Vancouver wasn't because Vancouver sucks--they had what looked to be a decent core of players, I think it more had to do with moving to an unfamiliar position and going to an unfamiliar country. A lot of this (man532's post) fits to me--again from the outsiders perspective. The only part that might not jive is whether Washington could take on SF with his BYC contract.
Just for fun, I thought about what I would take from Washington. Steve + fodder for Kwame, Stack and # 1. Done.
I won't comment on the plausibility of this story, but I do think that if the Rockets were going to shop Francis, what happens in the Eastern Finals could be beneficial. If Detroit wins, NJ doesn't even make the Finals, Kidd is still unhappy, wants to return the the West, wants a dominant big man, etc. If San Antonio isn't the option for him (depends on what happens with them, I guess), Houston would be a perfect choice, especially with NJ getting a talent like Francis in return. Yes, he is more like Marbury, who they shipped out, but they are trading all-star for all-star and would be getting younger - plus, at this point, I don't see Francis being able to influence a me-first attitude with the style of play in NJ. Rockets benefit for obvious reasons. If NJ wins, Detroit loses out again, and it is clearly obvious what they are missing. A superstar/all-star player who can create for himself. Wallace is a nightmare offensively and Hamilton, as good as he is, is Reggie Miller II - great player, but needs someone else to help him get open (off picks) or create a shot for him (drive and kickouts, fast breaks, etc.). In return, the Rockets get Chauncey Billups and Detroit's pick from Memphis, which will likely be a top 5 of some sort. In both instances, Francis goes to the East and goes to a team on the verge of winning. We, Houston fans, get to laugh when he makes the team worse, or say I told you so about Rudy when he makes the team better. In return, we either have Jason Kidd running the show, or Chauncey Billups plus another rookie - apparently not the direction the Rockets are wanting to take right now, but if the Detroit pick is top 3, you got to do it. Just my thoughts. Carry on.
That's because he's by far better than anybody else in Minni. When he finds his teammate Yao is more popular or gets more touch than him, what do you think he would react?
Yetti-c'mon dawg, why you always gotta talk smack about Steve? If Steve was freezing your boy out, what was the rest of the team doing? You think Rudy went through the headache of getting Yao here only to let the rest of the squad ignore him? You must really have no respect for Rudy T b/c you HAVE been pushing this conspiracy theory all season long. Give it a rest
if true, its good news to me...sounds like a dream come true! let steve be the man elsewhere. he can be the big man on a crappy team (like now) or learn to play w/in a winning system.
Oh God NOOOOOOO! Please, everytime I see or hear from Steve he's shouting Houston out. I'm sure at first ghe was a bit jealous of Yao's attention but thats a perfectly normal human reaction. As the season progressed you could see that he liked Ming and was trying to be helpful and supportive of the new big man. And all this Tierre bull is just that. I don't know if Tierre lit up Moochie and Steve or not but didn't anyone actually watch him play in NBA GAMES? He was not that good and hell he can't get playing time over Smooch Parker in Cleveland! We need Steve to win PERIOD and I for one am behind him.
Tell you what. I don't know if it's true. But most people don't have a reason to invent this stuff. Of course it could happen, but... ...I have wondered these things for awhile anyway. Is Steve actually HAPPY with us? He and Cat both seemed to chafe having to defer to Yao. They dealt with it, but are they HAPPY here? And if STeve isn't happy with us, find out. If I were him, I'd rather be in the East anyway. Probable guaranteed playoffs (sucky teams) and closer to his stomping grounds. So I hope the organization has an idea about where his head is, and doesn't just keep making a disjointed team with him anyway. Of course, this is mostly because I keep my fantasies about getting Garnett. If we could use Washington or Chicago, say, as the 3rd team in a trade to bring Garnett to Houston, can you imagine Garnett as the high post passer and Yao as the low post passer? *DROOL* Don't show loyalty to him if we can upgrade with him. If he actually wants to stay, then that's fine, go from there.
sorry to rain on y'alls parade, but KG is not coming here. the wolves owner said that the only way that they would trade KG is if he asked to be dealt. that doesn't mean that he is looking, only that they would conceed to Kg's wishes. The only way you trade a Kg is when they won't play for your team anymore. Even if KG decided to leave he would want to go home to chi town (who can give the wolves youngsters with skills) before he would want to come here most likely. we're "stuck" with Steve (thank God, because Steve is the MAN!!!!!)
lol!!!!!!!!! "JayZ750 I won't comment on the plausibility of this story, but I do think that if the Rockets were going to shop Francis, what happens in the Eastern Finals could be beneficial. Chauncy Billups Cuttino Mobley Lebron James Eddie Griffin Yao Ming Actually....it would be a very talented team......but ballhog heaven. Our coaching needs change. pasox2 "Just for fun, I thought about what I would take from Washington. Steve + fodder for Kwame, Stack and # 1. Done." Francis and Griffin for Kwame, Stack, and #1. That wouldn't be too bad..IF STEVE REALLY REALLY WANTS TO GO. But I'd rather be thinking about getting KOBE or T-MAC or SHAQ or ELTON BRAND or KEVIN GARNETT. I wish... These are just rumors. Steve is stuck here...unless we get Jeff Van Gundy or Larry Brown. Steve said he will only play for Rudy. Will he play for Flip Saunders or Doug Collins or Washington D.C.??? Hmm....... Forget it.
Disclaimer - not that I see this really happening...but... The third team option with Washington gives Minny lotto picks cheap. Washington could get some of our players, some to Minn. That makes sense. Francis - Bullets Garnett to Houston 2 lotto picks to Wolves Cat and EG to Wolves Cato Bullets Rice Bullets Taylor Wolves Bullets Hughes/Lue Francis Stackhouse Brown Cato Wolves Hudson Cat Wally EG Rasho - lotto pick Rox Yao Garnett Tmo Oscar Tierre Better for us if we get Kwame or Hudson back along with KG. Hard to see it really happening, but close enough to goof around.
Let's flame on this guy for a couple more pages, until Doc or OP comes on board with a "not bad". Then all hell will break loose.
LOL!!! That would be funny! "Francis - Bullets Garnett to Houston 2 lotto picks to Wolves Cat and EG to Wolves Cato Bullets Rice Bullets Taylor Wolves " Cat, Eddie, Taylor, and 2 lotto picks for KG would be pretty fair. Francis, Cato, Rice, Taylor, Mobley, Griffin, and a lotto pick for Kevin Garnett would be too much. But oh yeah! You're goofin around! I'd like Troy Hudson.
