Most of the guys involved in these incidents you mention have helmets or pads on....the game's still afoot.
When things deteriorate after the whistle blows,an NBA floor is not the place to be.....and it is most definitely getting more dangerous.

The League recognizes this and if they police it closer than other sports....well they should.

Remember we are talking BIG business that is at a critical juncture in it's growth.

It needs to be protected and nourished.

They don't stop broken necks do they?

Please provide some support for this contention. In fact, please provide one example from the last 10 years in which an NBA player has been injured in a fight during a game. Just one. Thanks.

The evidence goes the opposite way, in fact. Since the infamous Washington/Rudy T incident - The NBA is probably the LEAST dangerous place to be.

The POTENTIAL for serious injury is much higher.

The reason it hasn't happened is because the powers that be are doing everything they can to prevent it.

And again, don't underestimate the MONEY involved in the WORLDWIDE EXPANSION.

The League will always aggressively protect the investment/product.

Besides that damn ball,I think they do a really good job.

first off i am so sick of black atheletes pulling the race card out...........DONT ACT LIKE THUGS (the fistfight the other day not in general) IF YOU DONT GET IN A HUGE FIGHT THERE IS NO COVERAGE, you r****d! i used to like francis, but he has shown he is a self centered prick who thinks he is the ****. he complianed when drafted by the grizz., attitude got his a@# shipped out of h-town, very short stay in orlando (dont know what happened there but obviously was something)and he has been a cancer since arriving in ny, and sucked too. :D
so shut your mouth.......it has nothing to do with the fact that you are black......it had to do with the fact you are being paid unreal amounts of money to play a game (one which most of us sacrifice our free time to play)and are a role model to kids all over the world.......oh by the way if i got in a fight at work my a@# would be fired, and i dont make 15 + million a year. hmmmm.......i guess thats cuz i am white.

yeah, because fighting in an office is the exact same as fighting on the athletic field. brillant comparison.

That is a great comparison, what is the difference. Sports are a job to atheletes. If someone at work were to punch a guy, they would get fires, why should it be any different in the NBA?

Oh, good to know. So we should have fired Hakeem in 1985 when he sucker punched Billy Paultz in the face during the playoffs?

Great suggestion. Bye Bye Hakeem! We hardly knew ya!

no one said it was okay, just comparing fighting in sports to the office environment is silly. in the office, people from intel aren't bumping into and elbowing people from motorola.

So you think people like Hakeem Olajuwon, Larry Bird and Dr. J should have been sacking groceries at HEB rather than being the amazing basketball players they were?

Also, you're being a little offensive to sackers at grocery stores. Not once have I been to a grocery store and saw a fight breakout among the sackers. I think you are a jobist.

They should have fired Mike Tyson for getting into so many fights.
