Exactly. So many people forget how many games steve took us on his back and pulled out last second victories. Remember the times on national tv when we beat the lakers with stevie and yao? They even played with heart in the series against the lakers. Steve has never been afraid to fail! Thats what heart is!
So is it is one incident or none (you're saying both)? Regardless, arguments that begin with "yeah, but besides that... " usually aren't very good. Try this question: name another player that left his team to attend the Super Bowl and then was caught lying about it? That behavior isn't the end of the world, and I was excited when Francis rejoined the Rockets, but labeling him as a super professional who would do anything to win is nuts.
Yeah you really know me. What are you trying to say? I followed the Rockets religiously through those dark times. I have never heard anyone say Steve never lived up to his potential. He is the player that he became. Nothing more, nothing less. If you call averaging 20/6/6 at the height of your career, "never living up to his potential" then you have a low knowledge of basketball. Nobody said he was suppose to be the greatest point guard to play the game. But still, what the hell are you trying to argue anyways? You claim you seen more Francis than me because I wasn't a fan during the Francis era? How the hell can someone make an assumption like that? All I did was state that Francis played hard for us every time he went out there. That's all. Then you come here with this nonsense. THINK before you post, it *might* make your comments sound somewhat intelligent.
um... name a player that admitted he was so tired in the 4th quater of a game 7 of a 1st round, and said he couldn't try hard. name a player that at least 2 times a game, doesn't hustle back on defense because he is too lazy to run after talking to refs for 5 seconds on how that was a foul? i can point out every bad things that every player did in this team. so, i believe arguments with, yeah, but besides that... is not good, but nto bad.
i'm willing to bet his sore back is more of a result of his poor conditioning than something that happened in a game. when you're out of shape, your core isn't all that strong. you need a strong midsection to help support your back. that's probably what he's going through.
I don't think it was comparison. People were saying that Steve was the best PG behind Kidd. You know, "the next big PG" stuff. That just shows you how highly Steve was looked at until he got traded from Houston and his career went downwards. He is one of only for players (Magic, The Big O, G-Hill) to average at least 15pts,5rebs,5ast in their first five years of their career. I don't blame anyone for thinking Stevie was the next big PG. IMO, getting traded from Houston killed the Franchise. Mobley getting traded was the last straw because he was having a great season before that happened.
The Super Bowl incident is still a mystery because JVG said one story and Steve said another (he said he wasn't there). So I am not sure the exact reality. Similarly with other players, there were often "stories" about players raised by JVG to the media but disputed by the players themselves. As fans, we don;t know the details and the facts.
Too bad YOF's don't give Mac this kind of love and TOF's don't give Yao that kind of love. They both do this as well. I really missed Steve on Saturday night though. We really could have used him. It's horribly frustrating to watch Tracy and Yao bring it basically every night, regardless of whether they play well or not, they contribute every night, and we just hope that someone will help them out. They seem so alone on the team right now...I really hope they really figure it out soon.
He fell on his tail bone. Have you ever fallen on your tail bone? I have, and a bruised tail bone is not something you want to experience. No one is questioning that he didn't show up at the beginning in shape. He didn't. However, I see this as unrelated to that. You fall on your tail bone, in shape or not, and it is gonna hurt.
When SF3 was in against the Warriors, that is when the Rockets got close to Warriors. Once he went out(fell on his back was not the same after the fall) the game changed and the Warriors blew out the Rockets.
I noticed the first phoniex game....when we put steve in we made a run to get back in the game. The second game phoniex when he came in we made a run and he won the game. golden state game when they put him in we made a run and took the lead. anybody see a pattern here?I don't care what his stats look like for some reason when he is in we play better..this tell me he needs to play.
Where would you get that from what you quoted from me? I would have absolutely loved to see him in the game. I hope he keeps getting in better shape so he can play MORE minutes. I have said quite a few times that I think he has a place on this team and that is a good player but I disagree with a lot of these posters who think he is still an All Star or who practice revisionist history when it comes to Stevie's first stint as a Rocket.
oh hell yeah. i thought i was the only one who notice that. its obvious how much we need some heart on this team and stevie franchise is it
