I'm not real sure what kind of injury this. I've heard of a lot of different problems players have had over the years, but don't recall this particular one. I suppose it's real, but it sure coincides with Brooks improving. Oh, well.

It's the same injury he pulled out of his rear when he wanted a paid vacation from the Knicks. It's a real condition, but not one that calls for any rehab. Could be jumper's knee, but they aren't clear on that. Tendinitis gets treated by rest, that's it. Surgery only in the craziest of scenarios.

In any case, I don't care anymore. Waive Francis at first opportunity. He's got less than zero trade value and has no interest in helping us - only in pretending he's still a star.

I knew signing him was a terrible idea.

It was pretty much out of the blue. I have to wonder what impact Francis coming here had on James. The guy hasn't played close to what you could reasonably expect and must have assumed he'd be a major player on this team. The next thing he knew Francis was grabbing all the headlines, before Steve had done anything, with Mike suddenly becoming an afterthought. Coincidence? Probably, but I sometimes wonder.

Why doesn't the dude just get surgery and fix the problem??? Dwayne Wade had jumpers knee and had surgery. He can get the surgery and be out for the rest of the year and come back and play hard.

Francis was a low risk/high reward signing from the beginning. At best its a 50/50 chance you get the "high reward" . Usually a player with that label you weigh expectations to the "low risk" side cuz its more like 30/70 they come around.

I said it before, in THIS case having all those guards be "a good thing" like Morey said, I thought it was a bit overconfident a move with veteran players. Trying to "push" Rafer or "help Rafer" I thought was an unecessary move - either keep him or get rid of him instead of adding competition like high school b-ball tryouts. But Morey came out looking okay after all by keeping Rafer around.

Imagine NO Rafer and only a struggling Mike James, struggling Francis, Luther Head and Brooks as the guards

I agree. After we waive him and nobody picks him up he will return to Houston to live out his retirement.

Man, I get so sick of people saying that those of us who realize Steve hasn't been the same player he once was as "haters"

It has nothing to do with not liking him and everything to do with how he has played (minus a shot at the end of the Phx game)

That may have had an effect, but I think James was already dropping off which why Minny was happy to unload him. To me, it seems like he isn't very motivated. He had that great year during his contract year, and has done nothing since.

It looks like all the threads about our great offseason with the return of Bonzi, Steve, and James were wildly premature. Scola and Brooks seem like the only 2 new guys who will be long-term contributers.

I don't think Francis is done and out. I saw a bit on him on the six o'clock news. He was pissed off about the situation. Who knows what's going on. It could be real or it could be the Rockets doing their typical misdirection before trading him. Who knows. As for him being done. Francis has not excercised every option before him. He hasn't had any surgery done and all he does is ice the knee and rest. If he's having that much trouble, he should go the Dwayne Wade route.

Flash aint' lost a step so why doesn't Franchise do the same.

His Knee problem maybe him pushing to 'get in shape'
Could be a number of things

Francis is a fighter. .and will try to do everything to get back
but . .. . maybe he needs the surgery . .. he won't go quietly
They practically had to strap him down to make him check out his headaches

So far i've only seen the game against the Raptors and he was pretty dissapointing in that one. Maybe it was the way they played (low tempo) but he looked out of sync. Now on the other hand there was the game vs. Suns where he had some nice moves, drives to the basket etc. I really think given the chance Francis can be the starting PG or the 2nd one off the bench (maybe even a starting SG / 2nd SG off the bench). He hasn't been given enough time to say wether he will be good for the team. I give him the benefit of the doubt because of the interview a few weeks back where he referred to the DNP's etc. He's being humble and accepts his new role as opposed to forcing a position as a top scorer of the team. I do not know wether he could be the 3rd scorer but he could definetly be an asset to the team. I hope Adelman gives him the chance because he deserves more credit and fans need to give him the opportunity to prove himself again. Although a little weight loss wouldn't hurt him ;)

I dunno, I think everyone here has had tendonitis before. All you can really do is stop running or jumping and let the swelling go down. Then you start up again you're always thinking about whether or not it'll come back or not so ya gotta come back slow. If it keeps coming back, it means there's something wrong and guess what. Ya need to do something drastic if it'll extend your NBA career. Right now for Francis, this knee thing is killing his career.

I'd be like Flash, who's your surgeon dude!

Well I'm not sure if he is done or not but this is a Steve Francis "I have better things to do than play basketball stretch" I mean New Years party, national title game soon and then of course Steve will still need some time off for his Super Bowl party.

Steve Francis can't handle the ball, can't shoot straight and plays little to no d I don't see when or where he will help this team

believe me this is not the same competitive franchise that left us when he was traded to orlando...he doesnt love to ball anymore. if he was in the rotation, this injury would not be an issue

I can't see how. Mike got equal opportunity under Adelman, was well ahead of Steve in the rotation by the end of October, and killed himself with poor-shooting, selfish me-ball throughout Nov.

What's odd is how people here took a decent first mini-stint with the Rockets, an obvious contract year stat pad in Toronto, and completely mistook Mike James for being a stud.

The guy's been unceremoniously bounced from just about every team he's been on, with each team cutting ties ASAP and his two previous stops making less-than-veiled swipes at his sense of team play. No one was suspicious about why Toronto made clear before the end of his 20 ppg season there that they wouldn't so much as offer him the minimum? That his FG% were never so high before or after that contract year?

Take out Toronto, and every stop he's been less than 13 ppg. That's who he is. He doesn't facilitate the offense, he facilitates his own shots. He used to play rugged defense, he quit doing so during his contract year and hasn't cared about it since.

He's a garbage player, and he's a locker room cancer.

Wade's only 25 and doesn't have near the mileage that Steve does. Besides, the tendinitis is almost certainly a smokescreen to explain away Francis not playing for the team (for both sides). Steve's quit on us because Adelman won't simply give him 30 mpg to play himself into shape. Steve's delusional and thinks that if he got minutes he'd be giving us stud production again after a month or so.
