They all seemed to have a good time around each other. Glad to see steve backup Yao and wouldnt make fun of him or put words in his mouth. I am glad see that Steve and Yao really look like they are friends almost like Cat and Steve are.
He was asked if he ever saw the video where Yao said Happy Birthday to Kenny. Ernie asked if he could make a Yao impression on what Yao said and he said he couldnt and said that it was his "boy". They asked how it was to be his teammate and what kind of a person he is and responded that he is real close with him and is a great person. Basic questions in which I am pretty sure he has been asked numerous times. Glad to see him at the top of the boards in something.
you mean they actaully played a playoff game !??!? geezzz it has been so long since I have seen one, I thought they just ended the season early ! someone remind me... what are the compelling storylines ?!
I know I am the only one who caught this but common.....former? When did Francis become former? Yeah reminds me of the start of the bottom of the 10th inning the Astro v Braves in which the score keeper "mistakenly" put 5-4 on the score board (in favor of the Braves) while the game was still tied with Chipper Jones batting. Two batter later it actually became 5-4 thanks to the bad kama and Andruw Jones "fly ball" home run The point here is this - 2 former rockets and 1 current (albeit tempporarily).
Bro, the guy is making a joke. It's called sarcasm because he expects SF to be traded soon. Relax man
Ok, don't overreact. I hope and think Steve Francis will be a rocket next year. I typed it quick and submitted it. I meant it was going to be an all rockets panel with 2 former and 1 current.
To further explain the Mother's Day question, EJ was talking about Malone nearly being in tears because this was the first Mother's Day since his mom died and he asked Francis what he thought since Steve's mother passed away, trying to get some perspective I guess.
TV/RADIO NOTEBOOK Francis fails to get playoff slack from Barkley By DAVID BARRON Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle If you can't be in the playoffs, it's certainly entertaining to spend a day at TNT's Atlanta studio with Ernie Johnson Jr., Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley for Inside the NBA. Rockets guard Steve Francis was the man in the barrel Sunday, which meant he got to offer some analysis and take some ribbing from the Chuckster. Barkley struck when Francis least expected it, when Francis was talking about Karl Malone's emotional reaction to the death of his mother, about his relationship to his grandmother and sister in the wake of his own mother's death, and about NBA playoff games taking place on Mother's Day. "I've never played on Mother's Day," Francis said. "If you get past the first round, you can play on Mother's Day," Barkley said. "I played on Father's Day. ... The playoffs last from April to May to June." Francis, in the rookie's role in the studio, resisted the temptation to match barbs with the Chuckster. "You've gotta climb the playoff totem pole," Francis said, nodding to Smith and to Barkley. "You did it. He did it." Naturally, Francis was asked about his relationship with Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy. "We are both real competitive people. He wants to win, and I want to win," Francis said. "When you have that, everybody wants to try and do their own thing. But I'm not in the situation to be the coach of the team. That's his job. My job is to play. "As a leader of the team, sometimes I'm going to speak up for my teammates if they don't want to say anything. But me and Jeff are cool. ... Despite my numbers being down, I think for us, winning more games and getting to the playoffs was a big step." Link http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2560195
How many championships has Barkley won again? Playing in June doesn't mean jack if you don't win in June.
Maybe it comes across differently in print than it did on tv, but to me that was pretty low of Barkley to get his dig in when they were discussing what they were.
true everyone would have jump down Francis throat if he had said "Father's Day? That is so kewl . .. . I was talk to Matt Bullard. . and he showed me his rings from when he played past fathers day . . .can I see yours to see if it about the same?" Rocket RIver
