Any of you nerds ever date a really gorgeous woman? Or man if that's your cup of frappicino.

Ever get jealous when she starts talking to other guys? Sure you do.

Anyway, Stevie is Houston's hot girlfriend. We are so lucky to have gotten him. We have so many plans for our future with our Stevie. You know all the usual bs you come up with when we talk about Stevie.

We are all still heart broken and vulnerable after Hakeem's departure. So of course we are naturally on the defense when the mere wind of anyone, let alone, our designated 'franchise' player, doesn't want to sign his soul to the team. Would you want Stevie to sign a contract for life even if he really doesn't want to be here? Although the Chron article means jack ****, back to the hot girlfriend analogy, I say if he wants to talk to other teams, and shop around...

    LET HIM.

If you're confident you're the man, and it would be her loss to leave you, then fine, let her look. If she's smart she'll know that she needs to stay with you. The Houston Rockets are an NBA basketball team, in the business of entertaining fans, by winning games and championships. If the Rockets aren't 'the man,' then that's the Rockets own fault. We, as loyal and dedicated fans are sick of losing. How the hell do you think Steve feels? That drive and passion to WIN that Steve has is what endears him to us. So now you are chastising him for this? I love reading this board, it's probably the best BBS out there. But more times then not, you guys remind me of the emotional hags I work with. You wishy washy mamas need to get off your rags and take one side of the issue. To whom the bell tolls, I say get your head out of your azz.

One last point. Some you of guys need to remember not to let some of the postings and opinions of other members sway your opinion too much. Certain members with special board privileges sometimes shoot off opinions as facts, causing people to overreact and have lessened views of their favorite players/teams.

Tolpasche(?sp), I apologize. I must have missed it...

So to post here you have to love Mo Taylor? Bet he won't even be a starter after next season.

    No he's not.

Francis might be marginally better than Mobley, nothing more.

You want to talk talent/savvy/God-given skills? Mobley is taller, has longer arms than, as emotional as, and just as athletic(Give or take a little) as Steve.

You want to talk stats? They scored pretty much the same number of points a game, Francis had two more boards a game, and four more assists.

The assist differential can be attributed to the fact that Cuttino came off the bench for like 25-30 games. In this time, he was the primary scorer and was always relied on as a scorer, only. It can also be attributed to the fact that Cuttino plays primarily as a shooting guard.

    Yes they do.

It shows that they care about the team.

    Lazy, overly-optimistic GM's don't panic.

The top centers drafted this season were Chandler, Curry, Brown(drafted to play PF, but...), Woods, and Haywood.

Woods, Chandler, and Haywood should be mentioned in the same sentence as "Trade Steve for."

    That leaves Brown and Curry.
Curry, while being tagged "Baby Shaq", first needs to lose his baby fat. Shaq entered college relatively slim, Curry enters the league at a mammoth 6'11 300+. If he can indeed drop some weight, and add muscle, he could be the second coming of Shaq, or at least reminiscent of him, as he has good footwork and a somewhat impressive array of post moves.

Brown, is the complete oposite. He enters the league with a much smaller frame at 6'11 240. He has most often been compared to Garnett, thanks to great athleticism for a big man, a solid jump shot, and savvy.

You are the last person I would think would say something like this. First 6'3(And change) is larger than the average point guard. Second, if you can play, it doesn't matter what size you are.

    Earl the Pearl-6'3
    Zeke-6'1
    Jerry West-6'2
    Stockton-6'1

    WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG

Curry will start the season at 6'11 and a svelte 280.

I was talking about top high school centers, and some draft picks to boot. Anyhow, just merely answering the question that it isn't just Duncan and Shaq.

I was answering the question about Francis being top 5 player in a given season. I wasn't saying Francis can't be HOF. My point is merely that while PGs are important, bigger men are more unstoppable in the 4th quarter. Francis is not in the top 5 and isn't really even close, because taller is better. We can even say he is the best PG or can be, and I'd still say no PG is in the top 5 if we shuffle the league and do a draft.

So you're saying that Francis could never be a top five player in a given season because of his size? Because bigger men are more dominant in the 4th? By this logic 6-5 Michael Jordan wasn't and 6-0 Allen Iverson isn't very dominant late in games and therefore not top 5 players in the league in any given season.

Jordan is 6'6, and both play off Guard on offense. Therefore, by cp's logic, they both could be/were top 5 players in a given season.

I disagree, Down the stretch I think your two most important players are your distributor and your marquee(Scorer) player.

In our case, Francis is both. Although, Mobley is just as easy a choice to be the scorer down the stretch.

Bigger men have just as many restrictions as little men. Shaq can't hit free throws, and no big man in the league can bring the ball down the floor and effectively run the offense.(Save maybe Hill, Garnett)

With a point guard(That can score, ALA Zeke, Magic, Monroe, Payton, Pippen*), you have pretty much unlimited options. Pick n' roll, straight drive to the hoop, Stop N' Pop.

*Pip was of course a small forward, but during the last 3 Bull's championships you would often see Pip, Jordan, Rodman, Longley/Kukoc, shooter/scorer(Kerr, Burrell, etc...) down the stretch, and Pippen would become the primary distributor.

Big men, for the most part, at least need one player to bring it down and feed it to them.

I agree that Francis isn't even close to being in the top 5 of players now, as there are still at least two point guards better than he. But he can become a top 5 player. In the 80's, Jordan and Magic were the two best players(Popular opinion), both were guards.

    You're right.

Although, that first picture makes him look well over 350.

BTW, ESPN and NBA.com both have him listed as 285. ESPN's draft report had him at 300.

He was at about 340 in the top picture (it's a high school pic) and dropped 50 pounds under the tutelege of Jordans personal trainer until the Bulls switched him to their training staff. They are emphasizing muscle development and conditioning with him, not weight loss---so his weight loss has been nullified by muscle growth---which lessens the amount of pounds he'll actually lose.

    They're before and after pictures.

Yeah, it's too bad the Rockets didn't call Miss Cleo to see if Mo Taylor would get hurt...

    Cat,

Did you think Mo was talented enough to start at PF on a championship team headed by Francis?

hmm megabucks for cato and taylor=equal 30 more wins a season than the bulls, oh i get it , you're trying to avoid the point of how bad the bulls are by pointing out how the rockets made a bad contract. nice. you seem so bitter after Brand left the bulls. Its almost like you are trying to convince yourself that the bulls will do well with their new talent, when everyone can see that they won't even come close to the playoffs for aleast 5-6 years and thats if one of their players develop into something. i guess if going from message board to message board and downing their team makes you happy then hey knock yourself out. no really knock yourself out :D

I think it's OK he thinks about his future and has options, isn't it?

Of course, I'd rather him saying that he would definitely stay ... but who knows?
