What? He shoots more shots per game than anyone else on his team and is probably in the top five in the nation in turnovers. Plus, he's a terrible shooter. He can move like no other player I've ever seen, but I don't really see someone of his size - who can't shoot - going very high in the draft.
Texas would be nothing without Ford. He's the one that makes his teammates look good. If Ford got some good scorers around him, then he would get many more assists(NBA).
For real...if you are talking about Hollis Price, I just looked it up, and he only averages 2.0 turnovers per game. Now I didn't look up turnovers for every other player in the NCAA, but i highly DOUBT that he is top 5 in the NCAA in turnovers with that number. I'm a HUGE UT fan, and therefore TJ Ford fan. He turns the ball over 3.6 times a game, but I'm willing to accept that knowing that he dishes close to 8 assists a game, pulls down around 4 boards, gets a couple of steals and about 15 points. Any time your best player is your point guard, you're going to rely on him to make plays, and in doing so, turnovers will happen. Too many occasionally, but they are often mistakes of aggression. Any fan of big 12 basketball will know that Hollis Price is quite simply a warrior. He is the heart and soul of that OU team. The fact that he takes so many shots is because his team desperately needs the scoring. I feel like OU's defense is about as strong as ever, but they are going to be in trouble in the Tournament if they can't find a way to put points on the board like they've struggled to do recently. Anyway, Hollis is a great shooter, although he has struggled at times this year. I think it's because the team has lost players like McGhee to reduce the offensive workload put on Price's shoulders. Whatever you say about him, he is insanely quick, intelligent, tough, and one of the best clutch players in the NCAA. I hate OU, but he's the type of guy I'd love to have on my team. (On a side note, as much as I've always disliked OU due to the OU-UT rivalry, I've always loved Kelvin Sampson as a coach. Not another guy in the NCAA that I respect more. In victory or defeat, he never seems to be anything other than gracious and humble and reluctant to blame anyone or anything other than his team's effort. Gotta respect that....)
To say that Hollis Price is a terrible shooter is reason to stop reading the post right there. Say what you want about his ball-handling ability......but he IS a great shooter. If he were 3 inches taller, he'd be a lotto pick.....
Thanks. If you don't see a "quoted" message, just assume the poster is responding to the thread starter.
If Ford comes out this year, and he drops far enough in the draft, I would love to see the rockets pick him up. I know he doesn't have the greatest shot in the world, but it is much better than last year. Plus, he's a pass first guard, exactly what the Rox need. I would like to see steve at the two and TJ at the point. Can't bare to see Mooch dribbling any longer. I know he's only 5 ft 10 inches, but TJ has a 44 1/2 inch vertical leap according to the UT strength and conditioning coach. He certainly seems like he would be more willing to pass the ball into Yao more than any of our current guards. And, to those who say he's not a pass first guard, you obviously have not been watching many UT games the last 2 seasons. There's a reason the ESPN announcers and opposing coaches call him the best point guard in the country.
This is stupid, Francis is better than Ford. When Francis was in college he dominated too. You got it wrong, Ford should be watching Francis.
