I agree! I'm so tired of this crap! We played that game as if it was our first preseason game under a new coach or something!! We've had over a week to learn the new system! And another thing!! You would think Yao wasn't even playing or something!!! Francis and Mobley didn't even pass him the ball!!!

0-82, here we come. Fire JVG and trade everyone!

    Codell,
Lately, you like to quote JVG as if his words is the gospel or something!!

I watched about 80 games last year.

I don't think I saw Cat feed the post 10 times the whole year.

You have a mind of your own, you don't need JVG to tell you what to think! :)

Maybe the problem is Ming. We can go to the playoffs on the strength of our backcourt alone. We have the best backcourt in the league, bar none. Ming is to be a healthy addition to our backcourt, not the number one option. This is Francis' team, and Ming knows it. I don't think he has a problem with it, only his misguided fanboys do.

So you are saying that you know more about how we played last year than JVG??? ;)

Its ok to admit that you think you are smarter than the coach RF. After all, you already admited that you are smarter than Larry Smith right??

Damn, its too early for the haters to come out...

    Come on junior, slow down...

First of all its a new system and new philosophy, so the first game isn't a sign, let alone a preseason game...

Second, they were without Yao, nuff said...;)

You are reading something into my statement that isn't there. All as I am saying is that it wasn't Francis and Cat that passed the ball to Yao Ming in the majority of plays during last season.Nothing about the number of Yao Ming touches, So far JVG and Yetti are on the same page, just that JVG has to experience this season before he can get the full picture.

I really wish for one game in the preseason, the Rockets would just throw Yao the ball every time down and when he passed it back out just stuff it back in if only to quiet some of the Yao only crowd.

Maybe then they would see the fact the he is cosistently pushed 12 to 15 feet away from the basket when he starts his posts moves. Maybe then they would see his lack of explosion allowing much shorter players to challenge and or block his shots. Maybe then they would see the fact that he gets so tired late in the games that he resorts to that weak fade away jumper that clangs more often than not.

Maybe then they would understand that when Yao had his best offensive games, it came when Steve would create easy shots for him. When he could just get the ball at the rim and finish. Or hit an open jumper.

Maybe then they would realize that Yao is not Hakeem or Shaq or Kareem. He is not that once in a lifetime type player that can put a team on his back and carry them.

That doesn't mean that Yao is not a good player. He is a very good player. Not great. He may some day be a great player, but he will never be that dominant, league MVP type of player. He doesn't have the talent or the mental make up to do it. He's tall and he has nice skills. He will be a very important piece to the Rockets' puzzle. But this team will go no where without consistent scoring from the guards. Just as they need consistent scoring inside from the big men.

There's enough blame to go around for everyone as to why the Rockets did not make the playoffs last year.

P.S. Has Yetti ever admitted that Yao was to blame for ANYTHING?

Yetti, even though I can't say exactly what it is, but there must be a reason that you are on Clutch BBS's most wanted list... ;)

JVG stated that he wouldn't trade any significant players as he needed this season to evaluate his roster.
Remember tapes only show part of the action, often much of the court and players are not seen in the action. So tapes are not the be all, end all of Basketball Analysis.

dude, you are reading something into your importance that just isn't there. who passed to ming the majority of the time, and do you always refer to yourself in the third person? maybe after a year with the rockets JVG will, like you, finally get the full picture.

Why people make such a big deal out of one game? A preseason game for god sake.

Preseason is supposed to evaluate the players, why judge the team, or the system now? Let's talk about the system & players, etc in January.

Last year I was on the list of most respected posters. I am only expressing the same opinions as I was 18months ago. I am a dedicated Rockets Fan that only wants to see the team back in the Playoffs and climbing the ladder to a Championship. Incase you havn't noticed its been far too long since we were in the playoffs and we have been in this position playing a Guard Oriented Game. Its time for new thinking.
