remind me never to visit the GARM forum again. thanks in advance. comparing preseason stats??? priceless.
I know what you mean MadMax. Its seems like every hater has been looking for a chance to b**** about something and now that the Rox are struggling to get to know each other they figure this is their best chance. Steve ass-riders and JVG haters rejoice!!!
I have seen the 'trade Yao' threads... I have seen this 'T-mac sucks' thread... I have seen the 'JVG has to go' threads... before we have played the first meaningful game of the season.
Maybe you should ask the NBA not to release box scores for pre-season games ... or maybe not even play pre-season games; you know, since you don't want people analyzing pre-season or pre-season stats.
I always check the preseason stats to prepare for the fantasy basketball season...they are a good indication, especially about the potential of rookies...
i'm not saying they can't be looked at. and of course they should be kept. but you can be a preseason hero all you like, Mr. Cato. i'm much more concerned about the regular season, and even more concerned about the postseason in hoops. attempting to draw conclusions on players based on a handful of preseason games is silly, in my view.
It's funny you see so many posts from people saying "stop ripping Francis", and then turn around and constantly look for reasons to say "look McGrady sucks, look at Francis!"
If Francis had put up those numbers, assists wise, and ran the offense cleanly we wouldn't have needed "All-World" McGrady.
It's called playing in a team-oriented offensive system. Ewing was not the same player when JVG coached them (Remember he was out injured for most of the season and into the Finals that year), and Houston & Spree shared scoring while trying to fight not having any kind of inside presence to help. I don't really blame JVG for Francis' drop in stats last year. Last season was the first where he was not the first option. He was what a point guard supposed be in someone who sets others up for good shots and gets his when he can. Francis struggled with this concept and the system exposed his weaknesses in his game; ball handling and decision making. As we saw in the Houston-Orlando preseason game, Francis excels in a situation where he looks for his shot first or second, not last like in Houston. Plus, the more Yao's presence was felt, the less numbers Steve was going to get anyway, especially when another weakness of his is being a spot-up shooter. Things to think about that lower team scoring with JVG: 1) System is based on ball movement and working for a good shot, thus working down the shot clock every possession. 2) Defense oriented team which makes the opposition use up the shot clock on every possession. (1 & 2 both cut down shot attempts) 3) Shooting %'s, league-wide, have been down the last ten or so years So, JVG's system is fine. It is basically just an inside-out offense predicated on working the ball around for a good shot but, because of his great defense which cuts down shot attempts, the offense must be one that makes good decisions and doesn't cut down on shots with TO's. Bot were downfalls of last year's Rockets team. I know fans want to find something or someone to blame when something doesn't meet an expectation, but JVGs system is not the problem which is actually not much different from what was run when the Rockets were winning a championship with Dream & Glyde.
You worry too much. I don't see any reason that a player has to suffer offensively when he play better defense. T-Mac takes a lot of shots, his shot is not falling, it's only natural because anyone is rusty in the beginning of season. Things will pick up real soon.
Who the hell cares Francis average 30ppg 10rebs 10assts with 4:1 assist turnover rate, this coming season n Magics average 120ppg whereas T-mac average 19ppg n Rockets average 79ppg. as long as we are in the playoffs and moving forward toward the championship that's what matters. If we failed to make the playoffs then only we start "Fire JVG', Trade Yao and T-mac sucks thread. For the moment, just enjoy the coming season..... GO ROCKETS!!!!!
From what I've seen in preseason, TMAC played with lots of control and much natural ball distribution. He will definitely make the players around him better. He is little rusty with his shots. But I am not worried. With both our leaders, Yao and Tmac, have team first concept, we will have a good season. I don't want talk too much about SF, because we've seen enough past five hears.
Absolutely right!!!! If we don't make the playoffs then I'll be massively shocked! And if we don't get a higher seed than last year I'll be stunned too! The pieces fit a little better this season, and other teams are a bit weaker. So our strong defense should bring in 50 wins! And good luck to Francis/ Mobley/ Cato and the Magic - let's hope they get 50 wins too and make the playoffs in the East (I reckon they're a chance) Why are we so bitter that Francis may well post better stats than McGrady? Is it because we're fantasy basketball addicts?? If our top scorer was on 16ppg and we had 60 wins then I could care less! (Look at Memphis last year)
a mature Yao didn't do aaaannyyything at all Nice Additions . . did nnnooottthhhinngg people actually HEALTHY most season . . no no no it was just JVG Rocket River
