Yeah, it was Weisbrod and the Orlando folks who let this trade out... The first you heard was from Jim Gray, then from the Houston folks, then from Francis' agent. The Magic refused to comment on this entire situation and have not specifically said anything is close to being done with Houston. Oh well, guess you're looking at your wiseguy GM and thinking he's not at fault here...when in fact you've got it backwards.
It was the orlando sentinal who first reported about the trade. Do you think Dawson going to leak the story to a florida newspaper?
Show us where someone from the Rockets spoke publicly prior to Alexanders recent venting of frustration. Dawson isn't a genius but he isn't that stupid either. Or are you saying it was he who alerted papers to what the Magic were demanding from Pho, Ind and Hou in exchange for Tmac?
Baloney. The first reports were leaked to the Orlando Sentinnel right after T-Mac and DeVoss had their meeting. Even before that meeting, there were reports out of Orlando about potential trade suitors. It wasn't until after the story broke about the deal involving Francis and Houston that Francis and his folks went on the record. ESPN took their cue from the Orlando media as well. If you notice, NO ONE from the Rockets organization had spoken about the deal AT ALL until Les Alexander's comments day before yesterday. NO ONE! The Houston media had NOTHING. When the Chron and other media outlets don't do anything but report what other media outlets are reporting, you can guarantee that the leaks are not coming from the Rockets. Even the national media is beginning to comment about the odd practices of Wisebrod and the unorthodox way this is being handled. It is no surprise that his lack of experience dealing with these kinds of situations has also been highlighted. I don't blame the Sentinnel. They have to keep their sources and stay in good with the organization. But, don't try to put this off on the Rockets. They have done things the right way from the beginning. Period.
I don't care who leaked the info, Weisbrod is still a prick. He has that prickiness about him. I may be wrong, but i'm just judging from his quotes and his interviews on espn etc.
This trade will happen. There is no way the Rockets can back out now. Steve will never be happy in Houston. If Steve is not traded to Orlando he the Rockets will find another place for him. The rockets have not been up front with Steve and the trust is gone. I guessing that Steve went to Orlando to get the feel of there organization and to see if they would let him be himself. You got like Steve, Cat and D-Howard in the open court. Talk about your fast breaks! Steve will once again be his creative self with no constraints to hold him back (JVG).
Ur ryt! Steve will never change and be the same again. A PG who always like to take it to the hole himself rather than pass especially if there's on a 3 or 2 on 1 fastbreak..
So CD is the one that isn't pulling the trigger on the Tracy McGrady deal. Ok. Last I checked it was YOUR GM that said he was still "exploring his options". Now tell us, how is it CD's fault that your GM is holding up the deal "exploring options"?
By the way mfclark, which GM was it that was all over the media leaving quotes? Which GM was it that was on draft night talking about the deal? Which GM was it that was talking about what was or wasn't hurting the deal? Which GM was it that was talking about "exploring their options"? Which GM was it that wanted to meet with the player(s) in the deal? Which team's area media was talking about sources and not taking info from other papers? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't Houston.
The thing I don't understand about this whole Francis situation is that most adults expected to be lied to by their boss from time to time. I get lied to all the time by my manager, and I don't have a 100 million dollar contract to fall back on. Two words for Steve Francis: GROW UP!
Are you actually sincere here, mfclark? Come on! And you don't really like this GM you've got, do you?? I understand supporting your team come hell or high water, but lets not get delusional. And if you're crazy about Wisenbrutt, then you just craz... OK, tired and lacking clarity.
The ENTIRE amount we've heard from CD during this entire process was on draft night: "Our policy is not to talk about trades. As for this deal, it isn't done." Talk about hyperbole!
That's the problem with this country... In the words of RUN-DMC... "You lied about the lies that you lied about."
great post Jeff, the rocket organization is well known for its ability to keep things close to their chest, hence not suprising that the players weren't told , as soon as you tell them it is either done or will be all over the media wisebrod is obviouslyt new more team don't try to make it into a public dutch auction , doesn't really say much for negotiating skills when they have to rely on leaking it to the press to make it known what they want
somebody get this guy a dictionary!!!! Speculation means it might happen not it won't happen! nobody lied to SF
