Ok, I agree with that Dakota, but I feel that if we were to try to get Hakeem to average 20 and 10, we would need to resort to too much slow down offense. But I do see your point. Overall, I have been dissappointed with Mo Tay's offensive production up to this point. ------------------ She hates testicles, thus limiting the men she can admire to Democratic candidates for president. -- John Greenway, "The American Tradition", on feminist Elizabeth Gould Davis
Dream looked VERY good yesterday, flashes of the old Dream, shaking and baking with smooth moves. I disagree with many that say MoTay's been dissapointing on both ends. He's taken himself out of the game. If he didn't pick up so many fouls, most of which are touching fouls or other cheap little things, and not "good" fouls. His defense hasn't been spectacular, but I'd say it's probably average. Also, on his rebounding, often, he's hanging around the free throw line, and when the shot goes up, he's usually off the screen, unless it's his man shooting it up from inside, which means he's going down the court. I personally would prefer him to stick around, but maybe Rudy tells him to get down? He only had 12 minutes, but got 8 points, 3 boards. If you translate that into 36 minutes, if he could get it, that becomes a nice 24 points, and 9 boards. Not shabby at all. In the 3rd quarter, before his foul, Mo was just starting to heat up....then he picked up #5. How many points would he have gotten if he got KT's 15 shots? We desperately need an enforcer type inside. Mo isn't an "enforcer" he can be a better big man, but he won't be an Oakley type. Olajuwon isn't an enforcer anymore, Collier sure isn't. KT isn't it either. Cato, if he plays rabid like he can could be it, but he hasn't proven it yet. Collier has been fabulous. Over the past 4 games, he's averaging 10 points in under 20 minutes. He hasn't been afraid to bang, and showed nice touch. I feel the 1st Lakers game was his coming out party. The confidence he shows now is huge, after a nice game against Shackled. Francis is in a funk. He's passing when he should be shooting, shooting when he needs to pass. He's not truly running the offense, he's bringing up the ball, and then rather than take it strong or be a floor general, he'll take the air out of the ball, or pass it off in a play that doesn't really get much done (passing it off in short distance to one side then standing on the perimeter, and not getting involved again. Shandon's not getting the ball at all. He's hardly even getting any touches, let alone shots. He needs Francis and/or Moochie/Mobley to help create for him, and they just aren't doing it in the losses. The Lakers did not beat us soundly at all. If it wasn't for lucky breaks at the ends of the 2nd and 3rd (I counted at least twice where Kobe absolutely knocked someone down and didn't get called for a foul.) and some poor execution by Houston in the 2nd part of the 4th, this game was winnable. Francis, Mobley and Taylor have lots to prove next game. Oh look, we play the Bulls. Francis with a triple double, Mobley and Taylor with 20. 'Nuff Said. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated. [This message has been edited by NIKEstrad (edited November 13, 2000).]
NikeStrad, You forgot to mention that Collier is Lefthanded. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
good point arnel. i think many are forgetting the cornerstone of this franchise is stevie playing point guard. there is no reason to declare him a sg after 2 bad games.(in which he STILL scored in double figures)
Dream can provide veteran leadership in our new offense, he just needs to be vocal and set a good example. He could do this partially by adapting to the new offense, which I think he is beginning to do. But the problem with going back to the old offense is that, in a year (probably), when Olajuwon is gone, we will once again have to revert to the current offense we have. If we don't give Francis, Mobley and everyone else every opportunity to get within the style that they need to play, we might win more games this year, but when Dream leaves, they will have learned little. As sad as it is to say it, Dream can no longer be the focus of this offense, not because he can't, but because it is better in the long run if he isn't. ------------------ She hates testicles, thus limiting the men she can admire to Democratic candidates for president. -- John Greenway, "The American Tradition", on feminist Elizabeth Gould Davis
Raven, Not just Dream, use Mo Taylor and KT too. Diversity is all I am asking.... DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from Monkeys and Apes, then why are there still Monkeys and apes?
