imo, Bibby has as much business being on the team as Jason Terry or Mark Madsen. This is about politics. If this were about talent, these guys would make it:

Shaq,Kobe, Garnett, McGrady, Iverson, Duncan, Madsen, Terry, etc.

Overrated and lucky to play with Marion, Penny, Jake, and Amare.

Remember, at one point in the year, Steve lead Stephon in every category. Of course, noone recognizes that.

Also, remember, Marbury has played alot longer than Steve and Stephon has shot under 2% in a year.

True, Steph does have Marion but I don't believe for a second that overall they have a much more talented team than we do.
Also, Stevie probably would get the chance to take 20 shots a game if he would just come up and do it instead of dribbling side-to-side for 10 seconds before jacking up a 20-footer.

I can't really say how far the gap between the two are, but at this point I'd take Marbury......without question......as long as he comes with a muzzle.
    ;)

t-mac can at least lead a team that is way less talented than ours into the playoffs. they may go out in the first round, but isnt that all we wanted of our rockets?

steve is not a leader and he is definately no "franchise".

francis was passed up for the olympic team b/c he cant play the point. we dont want to look stupid infront of the world again and w/ francis running the point, well...you see where im going.
the olympic committe is trying to assemble a "team" where everyone knows their respective roles and knows how to play their postition (francis doesnt). if i wanted to win, i wouldnt want steve as my point guard either.

Francis is good, very good. He is athletic. He is quick. He is fast. He is strong. He's a decent shooter. He's a great driver. He's a great finisher. He's a great rebounder for a PG, maybe the best rebounding PG ever.

But he is not a great player. He won't be a great player either until he learns how to make all his teammates better. All the great ones made their teammates better........MJ, Magic, Bird, even Hakeem. They excelled at motivating their teammates. They excelled at getting their teammates involved. They excelled at kicking their teammates rears if they had to, to get their teammates to play at a higher level.

Until Stevie figures out how to incorporate all his teammates, play to their strengths, and cause them by his presence to step up their play, he cannot be great. He has to cause his teammates to want to play with him and play together.

Yao may end up being that guy on our team instead of Steve. Steve has been here 4 years now, Yao only one. It would be nice if they would grow together to provide that kind of leadership, to create an atmosphere that other players from other teams would want to come and play with them because of the way that they handle themselves and lead their team. All this punting basketballs and moaning at the refs that Stevie does, it ain't gonna get it done. Just play the game, and trust your teammates at crunch time. And if you see one of them fail at crunch time, pick them up, encourage them, and hand them the rock again. When the players start to feel that attitude from Steve, this team will change for the better.

When the players see that Steve is leaving it all out there on the floor, it will make a difference with them. He is not leaving it on the floor now, he loafs on defense and his teammates and everybody in the league knows it. He plays statistical defense, steals and boards. And he gets burned over and over and over. He oughta watch some tape of MJ or Kobe, see how they body up on their man if he gets hot, see how MJ and Kobe check their man out of the game and make them a non-factor, and only then do they go helping out somebody else. He needs to see how MJ and Kobe take the tough defensive assignment and get in the dude's jock. He needs to understand that he needs to do this, not with 10 seconds left in the 4th quarter, but when it becomes obvious that the guard is hot, and killing his team with jumpers and open layups because Steve gambled for the steal or is fading off in the lane to help rebound the miss that went swish.

If Stevie grows up, he will be great, right up there with the greatest ever. He has all the tools. Quit worrying about stats and just do it.

Put me in the boat of Francis being good. When you think about great players, you think about them being leaders either vocally or by example. Francis really can't do this because of his constant bonehead plays he makes. I mean besides the to's , the total lack of defense is another reason. I don't think he'll ever be a great player because of his low basketball iq, if all of a sudden he learns how to run a fast break, drops his to's down to about 2.5 and upp his assist and play bettter defense, then he could move into that Payton/Kidd class as great pgs.Right now, he's floudering a little under Marbury,Nash, and Davis as far as being a leader on the court with teammates. This thread could go on and on, but I haven't seen a great player, regardless of the supporting cast not get his team at least in the playoffs.

Does anyone still believe Francis is better than AI. AI has had 3 50+ playoff performances, and Steve well.....

I hate to admit it and have been denying most of this season, but Marbury is better tyhan Francis. Reports were in that he cried in the locker room when the Suns clinched the playoffs. I still think Francis has a pinch more talent than Marbury--but that is more than made up by Marbury's determination we have seen when the stakes have risen.

"Steve isn't as good as AI!! Steve isn't as good as Stephon!! WAH! WAH! WAH!"

Steve is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more talented than "Starbury". Marbury knows only how to brag about how much of an allstar he is and take 20+ shots as a pg, miss most of them. Comon 8 of 28 in a playoff game!!!! Atleast Francis would stop shooting when hes shooting THAT poorly.
