Why can't he get 45% with 14.7 shots per game?

Because he hasn't improved his turnovers per game. More shots, means more time with the ball in his hands, and less chance for team play.

    Less wins.

That's a known. The more that Francis has the ball in his hands (shares less) the worst this team does.

The more he passes, the better the team does.

he can. But you have to understand francis's 14 shots come from last second desperation shots becasue yao cant get posistion and the team is wating for yao to get it, and then the the other teamates pass up all these easy shots, and hand it to francis for a lucky shot. If you notice, there are hardly any plays set up for steve at the begening.

Yao is another story....he has his own problems. Francis problem have existed since 1999 before Yao. 45% would be great. But not just 45%. Turnovers and team play matter too.

One of the biggest problems for this team in the past was team assist. So, Francis might get 6 assist, but that also means that he shoots when he should pass, thus negating others getting assist.

It's just imbedded in his brain to shoot. And he can't shoot 45% +. Which makes it not worth it.

You’re assuming he still would have made the same percentage for those extra 5 field goal attempts. You’re not taking to account the fatigue Steve would have to go through to work for those 5 extra field goal attempts. If a player is taking 20 field goal attempts a game, the defense is going to work EXTRA hard to stop that player.

Steve's body already takes a ton of punishment now. If he's such a focal point of an offense that he has to take 20 shots a game, his body would take twice the amount of punishment as it does now. I just don't think he would be able to handle it.
