Francis is such a selfish ))_*_)* All he cares about is himself. The only reason why he makes these comments is because he is so jealous of Yao Ming. He will never stand to be upstaged by Yao, even though I really don't think Yao feels the same way about Francis. Hey Steve, Yao is the best player on the team and he not avg 20 points, trust me no one thinks there is any thing wrong with him. He is getting better and LEARNING. Team first steve...team first. No one cares about your so called prises. By the way, the NBA decided that the ROY was such a mistake 5 years later, they have decided to let Brand have sole possession of it since he actually deserves it and is that much better then you will ever be.

I laughed so hard when I read this!!! Steve has a lot of growing up to do, the kid flat out denied one of his biggest weaknesses. JVG can save his voice. Steve will never listen. :(

Why doesn't Steve realize that if he focuses on passing the ball and getting assists, it will be much easier for him to get off quality shots once the defense stops keying directly on him?

Every passing day I'm amazed at the level of negativity on this board. Seriously. It boggles the mind.

umm, no matter how much you think steve sucks and makes turnovers, he is a success as an individual. Winning co-rookie of the year, 2 time starting all-star and maybe 3 times this year....

Outside of this board, or the matter of fact Houston, he is looked at as one of the top 3 to 5 pgs...

thats what he has been doing the past few games. He is sacrificing his entire game to just help Yao, and what does yao do in return, he gets pushed arounf like a baby... Its just unfair seeing steve doing all this. Let steve be steve, and let him score... JVG has to much of a leash on him...

You seem to be the one that is delusional. He was lit up in one Portland game, and one Utah game. Steve came back and outplayed the PG's in both of those games the next time, and did a great job on defense. STeve's defense has also helped to shut down all-star quality guards such as Stephon Marbury, Baron Davis, and Chauncy Billups.

Steve is right about his defense. JVG agrees with Steve as well about his improved defense. Could it still be improved more? Yes, but that doesn't mean it isn't good now.

I believe that sometimes the Steve haters will see him loose his man once in the game and hold on to that one play as proof that Francis is getting eaten alive by his opponent. They won't notice the rest of the game where he's fighting through picks getting blocks, making steals helping to force his man into the help defense, throwing his hands up in the shooters face etc.

Sorry it bothers you so much that he does some things right. You may have a long season ahead of you.

I too have always been a supporter of Steve... but these comments pissed me off.
Boo frickity hoo! I make $10 million a year and think I'm worth every penny!
I've got news for you STeve, when you make that damn much money, your job is to a)entertain me and b) take your team to a higher level, something you have managed to do yet! When you make enough $$$ to make god jealous, then hell yes you better put up or shut up!
God damn, its a wonder he didn't scare Petitte away! Steve acts like the Houston media is sooo tough to deal with. If he was in NY or LA, his ass would be toast by now.

There are some seriously biased Steve-Fans on this BBS, aren't there?

Steve ranks 23rd in assists per game, and 4 in TOs.

Ranks 30th in PPG and is shooting a worse percentage than Allen Iverson.

So lets see...Steve is sacrificing his 'game' yet he still shoots as much as he ever has(actually 1 more shot per game than in his best APG year) , he has the ball in his hands as much as he ever has, yet all his numbers are WAAAAAY down and Yao is to blame  because we don't let steve ISO all the time anymore.

BTW, FranchiseBlade, how did Steve 'shutdown' Stephon Marbury when Starbury went off for 33/6/5boards ? And Baron Davis? 16/11/4boards ZERO turnovers too! While steve comes up with 10/6/4boards...4 TOs.
Billups had the only 'real' off game but even in the post game he only pointed out Cato and Yao as the cause, not Steve.

You make it sound like JVG has made Steve a good/great defender now when Van Gundy himself said that Steve has a "long way to go still." when it comes to defense.

Goes both ways. Francis lovers like yourself only want to see the good and ignore all the bad which far outweighs any good.

Oh NO!! You are waaayyyy off base here! Didn't you know he played "tremendous defense" on those players.

And did you forget this statement FB:

"That's funny, I didn't think this so-called, "tremendous defense" would allow players like Dwayne Wade, Speedy Claxton, Raul Lopez (twice) and Earl Watson to out-play him. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Don't forget the likes of Steve Nash, Mike Bibby and Damon Stoudamire (twice), that run circles around him.

But I guess you see what you want to see!"

Nice...quoting yourself to provide concrete evidence. I think you should take your own remarks to heart and stop seeing only the negative.

I agree Steve has a ways to go in every part of his game including defense. But I was responding to someone who said Steve was torched by every guy he plays.

Marbury got almost all of those in the first half. Then Steve helped to shut him down, and the Rockets got the win. Then Baron Davis is held below his season average, and watching the game Steve did a great job in defending a red hot pg.

The only award Van Gundy gave out this year was the trophy to Steve for his defensive improvement. I don't mind saying that Steve needs to improve still. I do mind someone claiming that everyone who believes Steve is doing a decent job on defense is dillusional.
