Does anyone know if historically there has ever been a rookie to play in the All-Stars?

It is very difficult to get on line to vote! I voted early on and every time I do get through it tells me that 'I must wait till the next day, having voted earlier on that day'.This is untrue, I have voted only once!

What I'm trying to figure out is why Vince Carter has so many votes. He's been hurt all year and hasn't shown much when he has played. 19 pts.(on 18 fg attempts) 4 boards and 2.6 assists a game. I guess numbers really aren't that important. I'm not too disappointed with shaq leading Yao in voting, heck, who cares if he is, knowing shaq he'll find an injury to let him kick back and relax that weekend like he always does.

I think David Stern is marketing Yao big so he will overide the Neilson no matter what. However, Neilson is not the type of man giving out sympathy vote IMO.

I don't believe this. When sohu.com.cn had a chat session with Yao a few weeks bad. The site logged 10 million hits in one hour. How can there be only 400K votes for Yao so far? I small a recount...

I think its cool that Cat is getting more votes than Brian Grant, Baron Davis, Theo Ratliff, and Reggie Miller.

I believe David Stern has authority to add a few players to the all-star game.

    Go Rockets, Go Yao

Oohh ohhh me! I have one.

If the NBA count all of China's votes, Batteer, Wang, and Yao will be voted in as starters. Does the NBA want that?

    Think about it....

It is hard for me to believe also. I personally voted more than 10 times. Maybe NBA is holding the result back now, to get more people to vote, and then...A surprise, Yao is the all-time vote geter.

    Go Rockets, Go Yao

Speaking of rookies to make the All-Star game, didn't Ralph Sampson make the All-Star game as a rookie and win the All-Star MVP? I would have loved seeing him play with Magic Johnson.

As great as it would be to have Yao be a starter for the West, I wouldn't mind seeing him come off the bench. I think he would get a huge ovation from the crowd, and if he started over Shaq, it might be a little overwhelming. By coming off the bench, NBA fans would have a little more 'objective' view of his game, as opposed to talking about how it's a conspiracy that he is starting over Shaq.

HOWEVER, I would still love to see him start over Shaq, just to piss off those d*mn Laker fans. :D Anyways, Yao is playing almost as well as Shaq, and his team is doing better.

Yeh right, ONLY 15 Million people. I believe its 15 Million household. But let's assume 15 M people watched, and 1 out of 100 actually voted for him. That's 150 K right that.

Now Yao Ming has about 400 K votes. Assume, on average everyone voted twice--that's only 200K people. notice the difference is now just 50K. Votes from TWO home game can easily make that up.

What we need for this balloting process is a competent auditor

    Oh Shoot!

Pardon me, folks, for that glaringly gross oversight.
I forgot that there is no such thing as a competent auditor.

    :p
