Not to rag on anyone but who was "guarding" Arenas? Those are some nice numbers he put up (13/16 for 46 points). The sad part of all this is Thomas thinks he's got enough trade bait to get Garnett.

According to the recap, Starbury was "guarding" Arenas.

    Blah blah blah blah

Francis is a dumb basketball player - period. That is just the short and simply truth.

    Anything else is uncivilized.

I love steve francis but he can't save the knicks. they have talent, it just doesn't fit. steve looks like he's just going through the motions

Steve has all the talent in the world and a killer shooting touch. Problem he's always had is believing his one-on-one skills give his team a better shot than ball movement and feeding "lesser" players. In particular, he'd rather hold the ball and look around for an opening to attack (to shoot or drive & kick) than swing the ball around. Everytime he does this, he's freezing the team out.

You don't have to shoot like Kobe to be a ballhog.

It's funny to listen to francis critics, bullard yesterday was talking about how orlando was much better with turnovers since francis left.

orlando's assist to turnover ratio yesterday, 14:18. people say howard's gonna get more shots. he got five, against juwan howard.

Ever consider that their real PG now is Jameer Nelson (who has been on the IR for a good while) or that Arroyo doesn't know the system or the moves of his new teammates? Or the Grant Hill is an excellent passer and just re-activated? The Magics' next phase is in infancy. Let's not rush to judgement.

Of course, the Rockets aren't exactly a slouch team defensively either. :D

i'm really not rushing to judgement, but jameer nelson isn't going to make the magic a better team. jameer played very well in steve's absence, they lost every game jameer started and steve didn't play. and jameer posted some good numbers.

edit: really I was just talking about yesterday's game, it was ironic that matt bullard would say that when Orlando was in the midst of such a terrible assist to turnover game as a team.

The Magic do not have a starting caliber PG anymore, the best one is Arroyo, I think the assist to turnover ratio stat isn't that important, but Jameer's and Hill's are no better than Francis in that regard. The Magic just suck at basketball, and Dwight Howard is very overrated right now, he's going to be great, but all he is right now is a physical freak and great rebounder, Yao owned him yesterday.

I disagree with you. SF is talented but not nearly as much as he thinks. The guys just isn't in the class with Kobe, Tracy, Wade & LeBron. For that matter, he isn't even as good as Starbury. Steve's problem is he overestimates himself and he's very selfish on offense. When he comes down to earth and accepts a role as 2nd or 3rd fiddle on a very good team, he could a team win a championship.

Does that mean you think he is letting his personal issues regarding the trade and circumstances affect his play on the court?

I don't know because he hasn't used them as an excuse. see that's the difference. francis never complained about being traded to ny. he complained about being traded to orlando but went on to have one of his best statistical seasons.

So is your complaint that personal problems should not affect a player's play or that the player should not admit that their personal problems are affecting their play?

I would venture to say that most athlete's performances are affected by personal problems at some point in their careers (see Dan Jansen). It is inevitable. My dad had aortic aneurysm surgery and it certainly affected my work performance that day. It's human nature. Also, had my boss (or anyone)said that my performance wasn't up to snuff that day, I would not hesitate to say that it was affected due to being worried about my dad.
