Why would Rockets03 be doing that when he was at the right spot at the right time? He was right at the losers' bench. If I were those two thugs, I would be so damn pissed losing to a team who has worked their ass off in being #1. Francis and Mobley seemed like since they're in the NBA and got the $$$, they don't need to work as hard. They don't care about winning a championship. This team needs leadership and structure and Rudy T. isn't offering that all.

    was I talking to you?

    Mr NoLifeAfter34

btw: did you just call Francis and Mobley...thugs...for real?? I guess anything is OK when every little freaking punk ass fan in the city is kicking the team, while they are down.

I prefer to kick the thug fan possy that apparently wants to metaphorically lynch the team. y'all could never be Rice Owls fans...that's for sure.

you know what bothers me worse?? is that these guys were talking so much smack...just like they did against san antonio...and both times they got their asses handed to them.

against san antonio, mobley says, "they can't beat us.." but they did get beat...and they've lost like 9 straight to san antonio at san antonio

against dallas...mobley and francis both say something like, "they can't beat us...particularly one on one...they can't beat us." but every time we've played the mavs this year, they've killed us...beat us by well into double digits.

the smack talk is ridiculous...particularly when you can't back it up and the evidence is so overwhelming that you can't back it up. that's just embarassing.

    shut up and play....and win!

Good one! Very creative! Don't get mad if you feel like you're the only one out here that doesn't know what the hell is going on with this team!

Rockets03 is right. This team has no direction, no leadership, and doesn't know how to assemble good talent. Since this season started, I have never been fond of this sorry offense. When Ming came in, I thought it might change. Man, was I wrong...

Man, that's some weak evidence to back up your accusation R03.

btw, riggydoo looks like a poor man's Langhi out there.

    So, Mr NowLifeAfterDreamIWannaBeAMavsFan

you don't deny that you just called Francis and Mobley thugs.

See R0ckets03. Start one of these threads, and you align yourself with ghetto thug fan possies looking to slander and lynch the team.

You can go sit over there and try to enjoy yourself with the fan scum, R0ckets03.

If you enjoyed this show then you're sick. I don't think all the pissed off people on the board are 'closet' jazz fans...they are very passionate rockets fans who don't like it when they see their team leaders laughing and playing around while they are getting their asses handed to them. How much do they really care about this loss if they're acting that way? Huh?

They care a lot less than we do, and that's frustrating.

HP, its obvious you don't feel this way and that makes me wonder if you're even a Rockets fan. From what you're saying and the way you're acting and berating all the complainers it seems like you're just a basketball fan that happens to live in Houston. Either that or you're the Michael Dukakis of rockets fans.

I love the Rox, but if they don't appreciate their fans and love the game enough to put forth an intelligent and willfull effort then it shows they don't feel the same way that we feel about the team.

I guess when you have season tix to watch a completely moronic backcourt like we have, you have to learn to enjoy them in some way. But its clear that you've detached yourself from any emotional ties to this team...quit whinning just because others haven't done the same.

If you stop and think that MOST(probably 99%) people do not see this team the way you do, and thats probably why attendance is down. Why should they come to a game where the fans care more than the players do?

A 6'3" guard who averages 6 rebounds a game cares. Its 82 games. I used to get mad when I would see these guys at a club after a loss, but one day I had an epiphany.

ITS A LONG SEASON, if they get upset after every loss or estatic after every win, they will soon be needing xanax.

What in the hell are you saying?!? I understand Rockets03's opinion on this situation and I agree with what he is saying. I'm not siding w/ anyone. And I don't deny that those two are thugs. They haven't grown up to realize that they are playing for a championship. And I don't care what you say. In fact, it doesn't make any sense anyways.

P.S. - I WILL NEVER BE A MAVS FAN! YOUR CRAZY, PARTNER! I'M ALWAYS A ROCKETS FAN AND ALWAYS WILL BE! BUT I'M NOT VERY FOND OF THIS CURRENT TEAM!

Did you people not watch the first half?!! That was beautiful basketball. That was what we've been waiting for!! Fast breaks...drives and dishes for easy buckets...tough defense. How does that not give you hope for the future? If you can totally bash a team for one half of basketball, why can you not see the good from another half of basketball? Yeah, it was a loss and that sucks, but you need to see that there was definitely some good to be taken from it.

Furthermore, any diatribe about a player and whether or not they care or don't care is 100% speculative. If you want to judge by actions on the court, then I would think that they did care. They never stopped trying while they were on the court...not once. Do not equate losing, making mistakes, and missing shots with not caring.

Oh, and Cuttino and Francis are thugs? You're giving guys like Karl Malone, Maurice Lucas, Michael Cage, and Kermit Washington a bad name.

...heypartner... instead of just attacking people who are being disaffected with the Rockets play, would you please start a thread detailing why you're happy with the team's current efforts, the improvement you see in our offense, and celebrating our team chemistry?

I'm really not being facetious. I'd really, really like to read a good post right now finding positives in the Rockets. I'm feeling pretty pessimistic right now... but hell, maybe you could persuade me. That would be cool.

What do you expect me to do? Do you actually believe they tried in the second half? Do you think they played smart basketball? If you answer yes to either of those questions then I might as well not even try to argue with you.

Let me paint you a corny picture. The Rockets are like young kids. You are going to proud of them and cheer them if they are actually trying their best. Then you don't really have anything to complain about. They might not be good at what they are doing, but they are still your kids and you love them.

But what if they are not even trying their best. They are playing nintendo the day before the big test. Most parents will of course yell at their kids. You will try to coax them or whatever it takes to try harder. You don't like them as much whey they are being stupid.

That is exactly how I feel about the Rockets. Show me some kind of a freakin effort man. There was no effort in the second half yesterday.

What the hell do you want me to yell at Cuban? "Ummmm......your team might be the best in the NBA and they might be whooping us by 30 on our home floor, but they like...ummm....still suck and stuff"?

I would be trash talking my ass off if it were actually a close game or if had a lead. Kind of pointless to trash talk when you can't back it up. I am not Steve or Cuttino who seem to trash talk without actually being able to back it up.

    ain't gonna happen codell. ;)

Severe Rockets Fan,,,good post. very thoughtful and almost 100% correct.

Haven, R0ckets03 is my friend...I've been to games with him, met his brother and sisters, swapped collectibles with him, ate pizza...etc etc. I'm not really attacking him anymore than he's attacking the Rockets. I apologize to all the innocent bystanders with the "closet Jazz fan" comment....yet, I have seen the comment made several times.

btw Haven: I've written the post you are asking for multiple times in the last two weeks. Mostly in back n forth to oeilpere in two different threads and comments in the Doc Rocket thread. But I also wrote one specifically to you and Rockets Addict just two days ago. What did I leave out?

    back to Severe Rockets Fan,

disaffected and non emotional isn't quite it. And you are right that I'd have bball season tickets in whatever city that I landed in, but that is no different than many non-Houston people choosing the Rockets soley to cheer for Hakeem first and now Yao, right? but I'll tell you, I've had two excellent opportunities to move from Houston, and the only thing that kept me from leaving was the Rockets.

I'm older and have been through the roller coaster rides of fandom in every sport and have been fortunate enough to see the 4 most incredible title victories ever for a fan ... I'm from the middle of nowhere in Illinois and my dad taught me to root for ND and da Bears

My childhood Notre Dame team and the Comeback Kid thrashing the heavily favored Earl Cambell and leaping 5 spots for the championship.

My childhood Bears finally breaking through, a Richard Dent fluke tipped pass away from going undefeated, and crushing all competition in the playoffs to a record setting Super Bowl margin of victory.

My childhood Dodgers (older brothers were born in California and taught me to root for them) led by a Orel breaking an unbreakable record, won the World Series in underdo, miraculous fashion with an arm-pumping Kirk Gibson causing me to cut my hands on the ceiling of my house

Then 12yrs after following my adopted town's bball team, I not only get one title, but witnessed a historical performance capped by an undressing of David Robinson.

Severe Rockets Fan...I've been lucky. One truly luck fan. After each one of those championships I said to myself about the team (and this is the truth), "Thank You, I will never forget this feeling, and everything else in this sport is gravy...the white knuckle days are over."

But one thing also is I realized each time that the hard years make if all the more worthwhile. The only thing different between fans like me and those who demand wins or else is that I never understood bashing. I've never done it except in fun. I say that not as a who's-the-better-fan argument, but just for understanding. There are different fan types, why not express yourself and explain why your fan type is more rewarding.

And you know where else I'm coming from. I've played several sports in high school and thrive on competition. Watching the pros is a way to live vicariously through better talent. Think about Bill Walton. Who does he root for? Can't he love just watching the game and cheerishing wins just the same. I like to look at pros and share their moves, their moments, to analyze the game through what is happening to their careers. I do this also with the opponents. In bball, there are multiple little skirmishes and subplots all the time. Each one is the opportunity for a fan like me to go "Yeah!!" or "Man, you missed that opportunity." You know, exactly what you might say to yourself. That's the thrill that transcends all teams. When you really twist and turn in your seat matching the flow of the game and watching the little things. The wins become REWARDS, not necessities to having fun.

I like to use the analogy to comedies. I might not like the movie or stage act all that much, but if the show makes me belly laugh just once...it was worth the price of admission. And I'm going to keep going.

Garnett is up next, and I am jazzed about it. You betcha.

As Spike Lee might say: "Its gotta be the basketball."

Now, Severe Rockets Fan and Haven. You owe me a story. Tell me what sports do for you.

No offense HP, but stop and consider this a moment. This is how you plan on enjoying the Rockets?

Basketball is just a game, and the NBA is a game where you have to pay hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars just to watch. So, at the end of the day, having fun is what it's all about.

But come *ON*. You expect us to tune in to Rockets basketball to watch a half of good basketball, and absurdly bad play from the backup SF on the opposing team? While that might be entertaining in the absence of anything better, it's NOT entertainment, and it's certainly not all I demand from my team.

I expect someone else to go down and boo them. But I don't expect you to, especially when we finally got a strong glimpse of fundamentally sound Rocketball in the first half. It's not just one game to me. It is a journey. The past is almost always irrelevant when critiquing the current game. You seem to have boo'd based as much on the past as that game. How many times have you seen the team throw their hands up and throw in the towell. Is this the first, if so, are you really going to stick by your title that "Francis and Mobley just don't care."

I was largley dumbfounded about your thread title.

To borrow your kids analogy: The first half was part of their test, and it exceeded my expectations. The second half was a test of focus and consistency...we experienced a cascading failure. So we end up with video of very sound ball, and a humbling memory.

Quite honestly, they are both good things and part of the journey.

You wanted to make sure the humbling memory would stick, so you didn't like the laughter on the bench. I can understand that...but I got to wonder about sitting with you at games now, because I'd rather find something to cheer at or laugh at, than boo. Friend to friend...I am disappointed, man.
