Basketball is very simple. The difference between the number of times you put the ball in the basket and the number of times your opponent puts it in determines who wins. The Rocks are getting a fair share of the ball, they are not shooting it well. Period. We can over-analyze till the sun expand and engulfs the earth, the bottom line is until the Rocks learn how to shoot, then we are gonna get beat.
Don't know DaDaddyo, I think that teams should play to their strengths and work hard to perfect what is special about their make-up. Unfortunately, I guess, we happen to have 2 of the best penetrators in the league on our squad, and I for one have little problem with their tactic. To say that they aren't playing with their brains is shallow and insensitive, you're obviously a smart guy, but that's insulting our boys.
So the next time the Toronto Raptors play a horrible first half of basketball and Lenny Wilkens starts his halftime spiel with "Guys, your just not playing very smart out there tonight" the entire team should get up and walk out of the room? Dude, it's not a personal attack - it's a value judgement on someone's ability to make good decisions on a basketball court. I think for multi-millions per year, a player can stand a little constructive criticism.
What I have noticed in the couple games that I have seen this year, is that when the guys drive to the basket, something good usually happens, an open look for a teammate, a foul, or a layup/dunk. When we stand around and shoot 20+ footers, we give up long rebounds and fast breaks. Please take it to the rack. The foul calls will come eventually.
Well I guess problem solved, both of them are out of the line-up. And for those who think that Mobley is a ball hog and you have to steal the ball from him (only a 11 shot attempts per game), you should be thrilled knowing that not only is he out for this game, he could be out for several games.
No we wouldn't be, not to me anyway. This team is guard oriented, and Kidd isn't a dominant scorer and that's what we need from our backcourt. Francis just has to pass better that's it. It took Isiah about 6 or 7 years before he believed in his teammates enough to be a title contender. Kidd wouldn't solve the problem we have, getting shots to fall. If shots were falling this wouldn't be an issue. Rice is still getting into shape, Willis is still learning the system. Our backcourt has to help get everybody else involved better, but Kidd doesn't solve that fact that Rice is still getting into shape, Griffin is young and to thin to be a full-time PF, and the fact that Walt finally got into shape and motivated in a contract year.
