Yao and Franics are needed 4 this team to win. Francis is the better player right now ok. Hes the Leader, so deal with it. If ya dont like it, go away. Stop suck... Yaos D... and stop bashing franics all the time ok. Like Yao would say " Get off my D.. and tell ya Bitc. to come here. Added Dots so it doesnt get blanked out.. Or i hope.
Does anyone think there's a way to improve Steve's handles? It just seems to be he's not a good ball handler, which I believe hurts his passing. Though he does seem to get to the rim, generally he appears to be barely holding on as he cuts through the lane. That makes it difficult to lay the ball off to someone else when the defense converges on him. In some ways, it reminds me of Drexler... just puts his head down and bulls his way in.
Steve has never been a good defender. However, in his defense, you cant consistently play 40+ minutes, run the show, and be expected to play a high caliber level of D. Not gonna happen. Yao doesn't have the same issues because: 1. He has a capable backup so he plays fewer minutes. 2. The majority of centers in the NBA suck and Yao can rest on defense. The real problem is Moochie Norris. He absolutely sucks and isn't capable of playing more than 10 minutes/game. We can reduce some of Steve's minutes by using Piatkowski at SG and moving Mobley to PG. Right now Steve doesn't really understand what he's supposed to do. Some games he takes 30 shots and others he takes 9. He's supposed to be a PG so he's cognizant of his "role". However, if his teammates aren't producing, Francis will get frustrated and try to take control of the game. Francis is not a PG. He'd be much more comfortable at SG where he wouldn't be responsible for setting up teammates. It's a waste of his talents. This is not a knock on Steve. He has a very quick first step and a very good intermediate jumper. He's also fearless and is willing to take it to defenders. This is what he does best. When you dilute his talent by making him responsible for things he's not good at, you get these schizophrenic results. That's unfortunate for him and the Rockets.
Im beginning to be a yao only fan also. I cant help it if Yao is the only good player on the team. Even though Im a yao only fan, Im also a rocket fan,and want yao to stay a rocket. However, I also want whats best for the rocketsand that means whats best for yao also since he is the only good player. So that means I want everyone traded except JJ and pike and boki (he is yaos friend). Some yao only fans however, hate the rockets and want ming traded. Thats not me. I think I belong in a new up and coming group of rocket fans that only like yao. Kinda like in 1992 when the only good player on the rockets was hakeem. Thats the way it is now. If the rockets would trade for more chemistry like a Rashard then Id be a rashard fan and ming fan . However, its near impossible to be a fan of mobley and steve and moochie and cato when their mistakes arent "accidents" but merely the same repeated dumb headed mistakes year after year even with a new coach. It wont change. I dont support dumb players. I dont mind good shooters like yao and pike to have off nights, but I do mind however idiotic plays like what I see from cat and steve that cant be corrected other than tradeing. whew !!!!
It is my sincerest hope that if Yao is ever traded, he will go to the worst team in the NBA just so these Yao-only fans can taste a bit of reality. How many games do you think the Rockets would win without Steve Francis and Mobley? It's a good transition right now because Yao doesn't have to carry the load and can deflect blame for his inconsistent play. No one blames Yao for Rockets losses. If he were the only good player on the team, he would get more criticism and scrutiny. Also, Yao is very lucky to play in Houston because the fans and media are very laid back. If he was in NY or Philly, forget it. The pressure would be immense.
Absolutely the most idiotic post I've every read. So now Yao is the only good player on the team? Steve, Cat, and Mooch make the same dumb mistakes so they need to be traded, that's preety much your gripe right? Well sweetie, you should take off the Yao colored glasses and add him to the list of players that make the same dumb mistakes... 1. Why does Yao continue to bring the ball down when rebounding or making an offensive move? How many more times does he need to get the ball stripped or out right taken away by smaller players before he gets it through his head to keep the ball up and protected? 2. Why does Yao continue to tap the ball when he attempts to rebound instead of... uh... I don't know... JUMPING? 3. Why does Yao not seem to be able to get could rebounding or post of positioning? 4. Why does Yao continue to take bad fall away shots against much smaller players, instead of...uh... I don't know...maybe using that 7 foot some odd inches frame to actually back some of these freaking 6'8 players to the freaking goal and dunk on someone... Geez... if he is such a basketball god why in hell can't he use common sense and realize that a two foot hook or a dunk is a much easeir (and safer) shot than a damn jumpshot. Wheh...
Yao doesn't dunk more because (at least for the foreseeable future) he's got no hops. He'd just get blocked if he tried to force things. His jump shot is money, and I don't mind him taking it. Guys, Francis is one of the top guards in the league, and he's been showing signs of being willing to sacrifice his shots for the team. The team is just going through some growing pains right now... no need for people to choose sides and bash. Eventually, they'll "get there", just like SF to the basket on a double crossover.
Yes I did bother to watch the game. Did you? For most of my response to your post go back and read Jeff's post on the picks that Portland was running and the lack of defensive help that Steve was getting. Even George karl who was calling the game mentioned how hard Steve was working trying to fight through those picks. As for Jeff Van Gundy, I believe that he was so pleased with Steve's commitment to defense that the only trophy he handed out was for Steve and his improvement on defense. That says a lot considering how far Cato has come this year.
To answer all your questions in a simple sentence. Yao has his limitations in his physical attributes. Let me elaborate. It is one thing not able to jump due to a lack of physical ability. It is totally dfferent when one runs into a bunch of defenders and forcing up a shot years after years.
Nice.... again!! I may be wrong but I think that we are in the same boat as to being tired of watching morons drive the lane into three defenders and ignoring a wide open JJ on the arc. Or feeding the ball into Yao and just standing around watching the double team smother him. The fact that nobody is rotating over to help him out is making me sick. When are these morons going to learn to rotate the ball; someone has to be open if there is DOUBLE TEAM!!! Like I said before, (and the talk here in Dallas is that Nash is going to opt out of his contract) the Rockets, if this happens need to get rid of Francis, and give the cash to a real floor leader. I can almost assuredly tell you that the Rockets would sell more tickets if they energized the team by getting rid of Francis and picked up Nash. Fact is, now that the newness that is Yao Ming has worn off, people in Houston really don't care to see the same losers wasting Yao's potential with the same harebrained played that has infected this team like cancer for the years since Francis. What is stomach-turning is that some of you here are ready to slap a bronze statue of this "chump" outside the TC. Just plain sickening! Players with Steve's metality belong on the worst teams in the league. Why?? Because those are the teams that decide to build around fools such as himself. And teams that make dumb managerial decisions like that deserve to be amongst the basement dwelling teams in the league!! Mark my words, we will never experience real success with this fool, along with all of the other fools that I mentioned in an earlier post, on this team.
And I almost forgot..... This guy folds under the pressure of a full court defense by an average defensive team, in Portland. I mean, what is this guy going to do in the playoffs when he has to face full court pressure by good defensive teams who are going to bring the pressure more frequently than any regular season game????? You don't think other teams around the league watch the tape and realize that a little applied pressure and this fool collapses. Give me a break!! And what are you going to do, bring in Moochie? Sad!!!! It is almost comical as to how sad he really makes this team!!!!!!!!!
egn, how come you only post after the rockets lose or a guard has a bad game? You were whinng your ass off in preseason, then you disappeared when things started out well. But at the first sign of trouble, boom, you reappear again. Pretty fortuitous timing.

I believe when you are surrounded by nothing but stupidity it begins to wear off on you.
I moved to Dallas and have things to take care of. Now if you wan't to go back and forth Sam, I don't mind crushing and dismantling your weak posts like old times!
Francis hasn't done a damn thing for the Rockets. Trade him and if he plays a key role in helping another team succeed to the finals then I'll kiss his a** and every a** of every Francis lover on this site.
It's going to be very hard this year if the rockets have such a hard time beating any western conference team. They have 0 quality wins this year. PHX is the only solid win but at this point they are under .500 and not in the playoff mix and might not be this year because I don't think they are that good and were not last year either. Rockets blew a chance to make the playoffs last time.
No thanks, I've figured out a better solution for dealing with mindless one trick ponies like you and this hoosier fellow, you'll have to do your vulturing without me.....
