Man, I didn't get to catch the game but seems like it was a spectacular play. He did something similar in the previous game vs. the Lakers in the 4th quarter. He jumped from far away over one of the Lakers guards but missed the dunk. Man, people will criticize even though this thread has nothing to do with what the hater is criticizing about. Peace.
I think Baron did the right thing. He got in position, but if he just stood there, it would have been a very dangerous play with Steve jumping so high. I think he was just trying to avoid hurting steve. And yes, this play is Steve's fault. He charges so often now that Davis knew exactly what he was going to do. I believe Francis had Cato running the floor, he should have looked to pass.
Ding ding ding! It's not like we have anybody in the Rockets organization who could show him how to do that. Calvin Murphy? He wasn't known for that, was he?
Good point. Steve really hasn't had anyone to show him the ropes as far as playing the point guard position in the NBA. I think it's important for a young player to be able to come into the league and have a mentor, if you will, to help guide you through troubled times. Steve has transformed his game all by his lonesome. Keep up the good work Steve!
Baron forgot he was supposed to give Steve a boost so he could propel himself to the top of the backboard where he would then strut around.
It is why I was so keen on getting Mark Jackson in here. I don't think it is a coincidence that Francis play has improved dramatically after the arrival of MJ. DD
he used to do this. but recently he's been passive and electing not to shoot too many jumpers in an attempt to reign in his game. but just very recently in the last two games he's started shooting more jumpers again. hopefully he'll go back to the pull up soon.
Hey, what do you want, it was a spectacular play that should have counted. Davis did the only thing he could do to stop it and luckily for him it worked. I mean, how are you gonna stop a guy from jumping over your head?
if i understand my nba rules correctly, if stevie had dunked it, it would have been a shooting foul, is that right?
You cannot judge this based some still pictures. Stevie left the ground well before that picture was taken so you don't know if baron has proper footing or if he leaned back before the contact (which he did). He's got to frickn learn how to start and finish a 2 on 1 fast break!
Calvin was one of the best stop and pop guys in the business. He also had a deadly teardrop runner in the lane. Francis should ask Calvin to teach him those tricks.
Steve did jump over Baron. When Steve went to the cup I though he took off before Baron got any position for a charge ala Boki poster in the preseason. If Steve would of dunked it which he could have then they wouldn't have called an offensive foul. Oh yeah Baron leaned his head back to avoid getting nuts in his face but still got it anyway.
do yall remember the dunk over jahidi white? it was in washington during steves rookie year, one of the best in game dunks ive ever seen
