I'm not really big on the whole "hate the french" thing, but holy ****, they just don't know when to quit b****ing do they? b**** b**** b****, whine whine whine. Sheesh.
Sounds like a divorced, wealthy, self-absorbed, violently abusive couple bickering about their homeless, schizophrenic, illiterate, HIV-positive adult offspring.
Free speech, democracy, historical perspective and a central role in world affairs'll do that to 'ya.
kinda like americans constantly b****ing about the french, even when it's just one french person making comments and not speaking on behalf of the government?
Certainly. I presume that in this instance, when you use the term "americans", you are not referring to me.
no i was in a sense. i don't think you constantly b**** about them, but it seemed like a weird time to make that comment when that was one person making a comment, not speaking on behalf of the government.
It's immaterial. Generically, they all b**** a lot - government or otherwise. Of coure, that's a stereotype and, accordingly, is subject to plenty of caveats or rejoinder. That being said, most stereotypes arise out of a certain amount of commonality... Like I said, I don't care one way or the other about what the French do or don't do, or who they support, or how many fights they did or did not win blah blah blah... but... there is a preponderance of whiners in that locale. Usually remarks to that effect (as in this instance) are not an insult as much as a humorous (sad kind of humor) commentary.
more than here? not a day goes by that i don't see bumper stickers here whining about the french. americans ****ing changed the name of french fries for chrissakes.
I see your point. I was specifically excluding myself from the wank-tastic entities that enodorsed the goofiness mentioned above, but I failed to denounce them for the very same b****ing I just accused the French of. Let's just say I think all this nationalistic banter is rank demagoguing of the intellectually devoid. As I alluded to above, most of my comments were meant in half-hearted jest, but I'll retract them in light of the hypocrisy.
eh, i probably should've just kept my mouth shut...i know you would feel the same about those on this side doing it as well. and btw, i completely agree (obviously) with your comment on the bantering.
While this is somewhat off topic, the French may b**** and whine but at least they seem to give a **** and do something about it. Have you seen Americans get things done the way the French do? If the French don't like something about their government, you can guaran-damn-tee that they are going to be protesting, making themselves heard, and making a difference where policy is concerned. I believe that the French government fear the people, not the other way around.
I don't know if that was sarcasm or not. I would never agree that the people managing our government are smarter than you or I. They are our servants. They should be there only through the will of the people. Dismissing something by thinking they are smarter than us allows them to get away with unchecked power. We need people to stand up and say what they are doing is wrong or stupid, because most of the time the people in charge can not see the forest through the trees. They are too busy trying to protect their own little fiefdoms and jobs.
actually, i wasn't being sarcastic. you probably sweat and toil 5 days a week for the same "money" that the us govt. prints by the trillions out of thin air with the push of a computer keystroke. then you pay ~40-50% of that "money" to the same govt. in both explicit and hidden taxes. then whatever might be leftover in your bank account, enjoying basically negative bank interest i might add, steadily loses further value via the magic of inflation. if this isn't genius on their part then i don't know what is. but alas, this is only but one example of how both you and i are in fact the servants and nothing close to the masters. if u want another example, just look at this forum. 90% of the posters here spend 90% of their posting time here cyberslapping each other all day long over the democrat/repub debates. it's the same ****ing party, with the same ****ing special interests, and the same ****ing status quo with respect to domestic and international policy. what exactly has changed with obama as the head puppet so far? the master can get his sheep to chase their tails clockwise or counter-clockwise however he wants. i'd have to say that you and i are not as clever.
i thought Obama was going to put an end to this ****, i mean, wasn't the whole point of electing so that other countries would love them some U.S.?
