And to read this morning from MemphiscommercialAppeal that they were celebrating when Celtics/Blazers selected Foye made me want to puke especially condering the fact that I too was jumping um and down and doing high fives at Toyota Center at the same time.

I hope Lior Eliyahu turns out to be the next Dirk Nowitzki

London's Burning's posts in this thread have been magnificent. He has done a great job summarizing what I feel about this fiasco.

And if I read one more comparison of Rudy Gay to Eddie Griffin, I think I am going to throw my computer out the window.

Save the environment. Have it ship to me and I'll promptly pay the shipping fee. ;)

Worth repeating because this sums up my feelings as well - good job LB!

Are you still a JVG fan munco? All the things about no O and not adapting to to the new D rules because that is not JVG's style, were the reasons I did not want JVG as our coach. In this case, I hate being right. Oh well, I think this will be his last year with us and he'll be back in the booth or back coaching the Knicks.

    Hey ArtV,
If this trade is due to JVG I must say that I'm no longer a supporter of him. I am a Rockets fan, but I also try to take a step back and look at things without rose colored glasses.

Right now this trade reiks of a move that JVG would do. If that's the case I'm off the bandwagon. The NBA game changed a good deal the last two years and even the teams we like to compare our style to (Spurs, Heat) are far more athletic than us.

I am glad we want established veterans under 30 for help. I have not been worried about TMac's back really until now. CD was quoted as saying we think we have a 3 year window or so with Tmac and Yao. I am sorry but that is totally illogical unless a doctor mentioned this. Many fans around here think the same thing. Tmac's back may be in bad shape but to think that it is a DEFINITE thing that a 27 year old Tmac has 3 years left seems shortsighted. Without Tmac this team will be nothing, no matter how Gay turns out to be. I think if TMac stays healthy we should be able to contend with 2-5 years. I really don't want management thinking our future is grim. That worries me.

    Exactly the same here.

It's not that he has 3 years left in him, but rather 3 years as an elite player. Unfortunately, that might be true. I remember T-Mac was quoted on one occasion saying that this contract (which runs until 2010) might be his last...

    Agreed on the bolded part.

Eddie Griffin gave us 9/6 in his rookie year, and Gay's contribution would likely have been similar. We will not be getting much more from Shane "10/5" Battier than we would have gotten from Gay. When we add Gay's potential to the balance, we have to admit that we got thoroughly raped. This was a horrible deal.

I don't think JVG even expects to keep his job. He knows he's probably a lame duck, that he will be gone next year no matter what happens. We are probably watching him prepare for his next job, which would explain those utterly unnecessary wins at the end of last season; they cost us Brandon Roy but made JVG's record look better. The Gay/Battier trade is just another case of JVG's "damn the future" attitude.

I wish the Rockets management had listened to me and fired JVG months ago, right after Tracy's season-ending injury. I said back then, as loudly as I could, that JVG was harmful. If he had been fired then, we would have Stro and Brandon Roy now.

This better had be the beginning piece to a bigger deal or the Rockets GM's front office rescinding this trade because the Logo has done it again i mean at least we could get dahntay jones and a future 2nd rounder out of it or somethin. we got another 3 "to handle the opposing teams top defensive assignment." but the SG position is a GAPING HOLE! deshaun stevenson wants to come but is asking for too much, unless Spanoulis is coming over then I hope OJ mayo comes out after next year, cuz we might be looking towards next years lottery.

We should stick this paragraph right in the middle of the clutchfans.net index.
