Every one of these trades makes Jerry Jones look like a fool for giving up a first for Roy Williams.

I'd sure ask for more if I were NE. Minn is desperate for help.

I don't see how this trade does anything other than:

    1. Make Minn better;

    2. Make NE worse.

If the Texans face the Pats in the playoffs, I'd much rather face them WITHOUT Moss than with him.

Question: Does New England's compensation have any bearing on what San Diego can ask for in a trade involving Vincent Jackson?

I can see the argument where Moss is a speed receiver that's 33 years old, at the end of his deal, and having a down year. You wouldn't give up a high pick for a rental, especially one that might be asking for too much money in the spring.

NE allegedly was starting to see Moss affect the locker room and had made the decision that they weren't going to pay him. They're overflowing with draft picks and are in a good position to bring in a cheap replacement.

For sure this hurts the Chargers' extortion price for Jackson. I'm sure the Vikings were happy to piss on their parade with this move.

According to the local MN news they are saying that Moss didn't think he could get a new contract with NE and wasn't planning on staying so NE might've been desperate too to unload him and do it to a team outside of conference.

Not really though because the Chargers so far have been content not to move him. It's like they would be happy to get a great compensation package for him, but they are equally pleased to just stick it to him and let him sit out.

That's what I was thinking because he has to play in a certain number of games to get free agency next year or he is stuck in the same boat, right?

Something like that. The Chargers GM has a reputation for being a vindictive guy though, so I think he is taking pleasure in screwing Jackson here.

I picked up Brett Favre off waivers in my league,

I figure when he has Moss and a healthy Sidney Rice, he's going to have some decent fantasy stats again

I was just speaking on the effect on the potential return they'd get for him.

They're clearly more interested in being vindictive towards him than getting fair value in return for a player that will never suit up for them again.

There are posters that occasionally claim, erroneously, that Morey's negotiations would scare FAs away from Houston. Well, what SD is doing is probably something that NFL guys ARE paying attention to. Smith has been fostering one of the nastiest reputations in the league with the way he's gone about his business (and supposedly with the way he treats others in person).

I noticed that the Vikings gave up a third round pick for Moss and a seventh round pick. Wow, that was cheap!

Not as cheap as what the Patriots got him for.

Moss must have really worn out his welcome with "The Hoodie". 3rd and 7th is simply peanuts for New England.

On a side note though, he'll probably be willing to do a little more than half ass it with Favre slinging him the ball every game.

I'm having trouble figuring out whether he is helped or hurt by this move.

from NE perspective, they apparently weren't going to throw to him anyway, may as well get something out of the deal.

Have to like a team that's good enough to decide "You're a jackass, and we'll win without you" when pressured by a player about what he thinks should come his way.
