New England would be dumb if they trade Moss. I don't know why they don't want to re-sign him. He is still a top 5 receiver. New England likes to get rid of players before they hit free agency and collect draft picks but there last few drafts have been terrible. I can't believe all you can get for a top 5 receiver is a late 3rd round pick.

He's good, but I don't think he's top 3. He's probably the best deep ball receiver and makes circus catches routinely, so hes statistically great. He just isn't a complete enough receiver to be top 3 in my opinion (YAC, blocking, fighting for the ball).

AJ, Fitz, Marshall, and Johnson are better IMO. Top 5 isn't anything to sneeze at though.

If Vikes get Moss and get back Sydney Rice back this year, watch out. Rice and Moss on the outside with Harvin in the slot, AD in the backfield, and Favre at QB. Visanthe Shiancoe isn't a bad tight end either. They are going all in but Chilly has too go all in this season.

I think he has the skills to make catches those other guys can't. He might suck this year but he is on pace for more TD than Andre. In the last 3 years he has more TD than andre has in his entire career. Even at his age he is probably faster than fitz.

If the Patriots are only asking for a third rounder back, Minnesota is better off doing the deal without a long term commitment from Moss.

The only reason Moss is playing bad this season is because he's crying that the Pats won't give him an extension. If the Vikes didn't give him one either he'll keep half assing it on the field.

I read a fact that said something like the Pats have 14 1st and 2nd year starters. They also have tons of picks coming their way, so it looks like they are in transition/reloading for one more run at multiple titles with Brady.

Adam_Schefter Multiple people believe a Moss-to-Minnesota deal is moving closer to happening, but no trade expected to go down tonight. Weds is target.

New England doesn't seem give anybody over 33 who doesn't play Line or QB a contract.

They traded Vrabel when he was 33, and in the last year of his contract.

When Harrison turned 34, the Patriots forced him to take a paycut to remain on the team. He only played one more season after that.

Bruschi would be the exception. Brushci played his last game as a Patriot at the age of 35 though, so it's not like he was a dinosaur. Although he did sign a two year deal at age 33, but he was pretty much producing very well and had been a lifetime Patriot.

They have geezers, but only if they're productive, and typically only in certain circumstances. Otherwise they tend to cut bait pretty quickly.

I count 4-6 1st/2nd year starters, but they do have a lot of these guys as backups.

Ahhh, that might have been it...either way they are getting younger but also better which is hard to do.

RT @RapSheet: A source close to situation believes not only Randy Moss trade gets done, but also it likely gets done tomw

Adam_Schefter Two well-placed NFL sources predicting tonight that the Randy Moss-to-Minnesota trade will be consummated Wednesday.
