Keep in mind Houston just came off of hosting the Superbowl AND baseball's all star game. We have major league football, basketball AND baseball. Relatively brand-spanking new venues for all 3. Minor league hockey. All sortsa college sports. Not to mention even high school football is big around here. Overall, yeah, Houston's a pretty good sports city.
Dude, it says: "you-all (yôl) also y'all (yôl)" at the top, clearly indicating that "ya'll" works as well. Plus, the very fact that there are entries for "ya'll" means it's legal.
That does not mean its legal, it means they know there are people like you and me who can't spell and it helps us out. Look at the rules, an " ' " takes the place of (a) letter(s) in 2 words y'all '=ou can't '=no If it was ya'll, what the hell would ' be? admit it your wrong. btw, I think Houstons perfect on that list. Dont be suprised by philly and chi-towns low rankings. Look at the cities ahead of them
I'm going with Fatty on this one. It's clearly y'all. Your dictionary doesn't work. Their system is flawed. Try h'ers instead of her's. Or i'ts instead of it's. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=h'ers http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=i'ts
it still doesn't make sense to put the letter a before the apostrophe Y'all <-- The sound of Y plus the word all y + all Ya'll <-- makes it seem like its pronounced Yaa'll or yeah'll
I say VesceySux stays in. That is .......until its down to him and someone else. THen Ill drop the hammer on him.
Yep. I'd expect nothing less from you, codell. I'm #2! I'm #2! For the rest of you: "You lost today, kid. But that doesn't mean you have to like it." - Mr. Evil Fedora Guy, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
I agree. Just remember this poll isn't just about which city has the best fans. It's also about the success of the sports teams. The Patriots won the Superbowl; the Red Sox got into the playoffs, as did the Celtics and the Bruins. Houston hosted the Superbowl so that must've counted a lot.
WHOA! WHOA! I get kicked out for using "it's". That has to be used a hell of a lot more than "ya'll". I'm calling Bull shutupyourface right now. If I'm out for "it's", your definitely out for "ya'll"
well, you're out again for "your" -- Mr. Apostrophy King (ps -- ya'll i suppose could be short for ya all with the second 'a' removed -- but i tend agree with you here!).
First off, "it's" and "its" are two different words with two different meanings. They are not interchangeable. Second, "ya'll" is slang. "it's" is not. Hence, codell's ruling is different.
