it doesn't make sense...it's not his fault....now let's exchange it. put wade with those 'scrubs' and mcgrady with 'talented team'.

    Who's better?

You're analysis has been spot on through out this thread. T-mac is a stat guy's nightmare (which i love about him). His greatest attributes, court awareness and passing abiltiy, are very difficult to track. Statistically speaking he would be much lower on this list but his contributions to the success of this team can't be denied.

Unlike you and most other's i really think Tracy is doing as good as he can possibly can. I really think he appears more athletic than he really is because of some of his skills. He gets no lift on his jumpers and he can't take the punishment under the rim because he's so fragile (and he was never that good going to the basket anyway). He basically baits people into thinking he'll drive and takes long mid-range jumpers all game (which contributes to his poor percentage).

Athletically he is no longer a SG, more of a 3/4. I think he should work on his post moves to create more space for good shots because i just don't think he has the quickness to even get to the free throw line for a jumper on average SG's the way that Kobe and Jordan did.

That is just......r****ded and I'm sorry. This is a contradiction of what you want to say..... So you're basically saying whether we prefer to have a guy who can lead a crap team to playoffs in the west or a guy who can lead a team full of talent to a championship? This is like saying whether I prefer a 100 dollar note surrounded by 1 dollar notes or a 1 dollar note surrounded by 100 dollar notes. This is just a comparison, in no way is Wade just 1 dollar and McGrady 99 dollars more than him.

this is more like it... i found it hard to believe in that other player rating article that mcgrady was ranked 29 overall in the NBA.. ludicrous!

I do not know what will happen if you put wade with those 'scrubs', I do not really care. I want to know which player is better in the playoff with a decent team .

Replace Wade with Tmac, could Miami still beat Dallas? Replace Tmac with Wade in the PLAYOFF, could Houston have passed the first round already?

Well houston almost beat dallas with a group of scrubs like ryan bowen starting and a bunch of backups like clarence weatherspoon on the bench. and if you actually watched that series, mcgrady had one of the greatest alltime individual series of alltime in the playoffs. why dont you just go to the heats fan board and take you're smug attitude with you.

I disagree with the things that thacabbage was saying Tracy could improve on. Obviously he plays differently w/o major injuries (who doesn't?) but his biggest problem even when healthy is not shooting efficiently. I've noticed that he misses plenty of non-heat check/bad shots that he should make. He just gets no lift, there's nothing he can do about that.

HE shoots pretty good from the mid range zone when it's in the flow of the offense. it's those crazy contensted heat check threes that hurts his %. if you check his statistic just on around the mid-range zone, there pretty good. those silly heat check shots are what screwes him up. what tracy now needs to do is take those shots out of his repatoire and try to become a better post/interior scorer. he can easily destroy most SG of the league if he posts them up. just watch how he was tearing AK-47 and brewer in the jazz series. he has pretty good foot work in the low post.

OK, if we are saying Tmac is the better or equal regular season performer, I am OK with that. Tmac's best regular season statistically (I think about 2001) is right with the best of Kobe and Lebron as well.

Tmac is the equal or better regular season player than Wade. And as we have discussed on this board in the last 2 weeks, the facts show David Robinson was in relation to Hakeem as well.

Personally I want to see if a player can elevate his production, but more importantly, his efficiency and his teams play in the playoffs.

You guys are totally overrating Wade's cast. Outside of Wade that team was the worst NBA champion in recent memory, by miles. They had about the worst point guard pair (Jason Williams and a 40 year old Payton) and worst pair of starting forwards of the playoff teams (though if anybody gave them a run of poor-to-mediocrity in those positions among playoff teams it was the Rockets). Notice if Williams, Payton, and Walker--three guys squarely in that rotation-- are even still in the league, and if so how they are paid/valued? Shaq had his moments of good play int he playoffs, but he was completely useless and destroying his team versus the Mavs. He certainly was no where near the Shaq that Kobe and him lost with the last 2 years with better players than the Heat had.

You will not find a single player to account for the amount of his winning team's NBA finals offensive production in perhaps a decade or more than Wade did--fact. So there were some controversial calls (not like this isn't true elsewhere like Utah never forgetting MJ pushing Russell off), one might even say Dallas might have been able to win a game 7 with them (and Utah probably thinks they would have won game 7 too). But the only reason Miami wasn't swept by a combined total of like 100 points in 4 games was because of Wade--Dallas was so vastly superior in most other positions but Wade was fantastic enough offensively and the Mia team worked hard enough as a group defensively to keep the series close. Remember this also was the Dallas team who beat the Spurs on the road and went on to win close to 70 games the following yea--a much better team than the won who blew out the Rockets by like 40 when the chips were down. And of course Wade chewed up the defending two time EC winning and 1 time NBA champion Detroit squad--I don't remember any ref complaints, just a Detroit squad Wade demoralized with his shooting and decision making. The only other guy to later do this is a similar fashion to the Piston's was Lebron. (Remember Detroit totally killed Kobe's efficiency in beating them 4-1 in the finals, similar what Boston was able to do to frustrate Kobe in the key games of the finals this year).

See, I agree with this. Tmac is under-appreciated and is a great player. It isn't his fault (even if he still had the explosiveness too) he can't go to the hole more relentlessly like Wade/AI/Lebron/Kobe/MJ and have his body hold up for a series, let alone a season. Still, the Rockets are lucky to have a player with his skills and game. Further, saying he is the 4th best swingman in a league at the time of probably the 3 best swingmen (LJ, Wade, Kobe) other than Jordan in the last 25 or so years is no insult.

I mean I insult David Robinson as TLMM because he is no Hakeem, Shaq or Duncan in playoff time, but that is not because TLMM isn't a great player nor I am saying that I would not want him on my team, I say this merely b/c he is pansy Sper worth dissing any chance we can get.

the answers to both of these questions are actually NO ... D-wade played point guard role on that championship team. T-mac would have failed . D-wade on our squad wouldnt have won a first round series because hes replacing our best scorer and well look at it this way... tracy did all he humanly could to win , we lost due to the lack of support he had not him.

by the way im happy with the original article , i think its fair, this whole wade vs t-mac debate is silly . Wade is a better talent at this time and point , simply because hes younger and healthier , nothing more and nothing less. T-mac is great , he was greater when younger and healthier. but right now T-mac is not a better talent and prospect than wade. those of you arguing that are being silly ..

Purely speculative, but I don't think so. I think Utah would have had a snowballs chance in hell in defending Wade's penetration. So I think Wade could have gotten us out of the 1st round, but not past the WC elite though.

See this is my main gripe with Wade (and to a lesser degree Lebron). A huge chunk of his scoring comes from being able to out-quick his man and slam his body into a player near the rim. Of course that's going to be efficient. When he's creating and scoring skillfully its beautiful but i have to grab my barf bag when he goes into "we need to score" mode and just starts barreling into people in the paint.

I wouldn't do that trade straight-up. Although Wade plays hard most of the time, he's probably more injury-prone than TMac. Not to mention, TMac is one of the best passers in the league at setting guys up.

When Wade and LeBron attack the rim, you either foul them or give up a slam or layup. It would be nice if Tracy had the guts to do this on a regular basis, but he prefers chucking jumpshots instead. Who's fault is that? Tracy's poor shot selection and FG% is why he's a cut below LeBron and Wade. If he would just cease and desist the 3-point shots on fast breaks, that would help by itself. If he would get ticked off and attack every time the Jazz put a stiff like Kyle Korver on him, that would help too. But Tracy likes to bail out inferior defenders by shooting turnarounds and playing with finesse.

If Tracy attacked the rim on a regular basis, I think we would have him for about half the season.

I used to think the same thing about Kobe until I saw Dobermomba in the Olympics kill Spain's hope of winning that game. Dude hit a 4 point play, stole the rock and scored again, play D, rebounded. My man was a monster at the biggest time, while everyone else was punking out (Lebron, Wade, and Melo).

Kobe is a beast and I will leave it at that.
