im happy with meaningful basketball being played. If you're only happy with championships you must be a miserable person b/c those are few and far between. I want to watch competitive baskeball with at least a decent possibiility of a championship...for too long rockets fans didnt have that.

yes, adelman is going to pull a 6'10 althetic shooting PF out of his magic hat and a allstar pg to boot. i cant wait.

Are you trying to imply that jvg didnt want talent?

facts are facts, the team needs better players. I hope they get them but it wont be easy given the teams financial situation.

yeah, i know. im tired of this team needing better players too.

The issue has become... why are they superior teams? The Jazz had to rebuild the last few years and yet they still have a better than us? Also, we were in pole position to win both the Dallas and Utah series, yet we managed to lose 4 of the next 5 to get kicked out. Also, losing in game 7 at home is inexcusable.

JVG's idea of talent, is washed out players that "use" to be good. The squad got progressively older with JVG at the helm.

you are right...one of the smartest guys in basketball didnt know how to coach offense. that makes much more sense.

better than freaking lottery year after lottery year...isnt it?

    Yes JVG did want talent.

That is why he went out and got

    Charlie Ward
    Rod Strickland
    David Wesley
    Charles Oakley
    Withered Spoon

They were all talented...at Geriatric Olympics.

really? novak, yao, tmac, vpsan, luther, battier, lucas, chuck, snyder are all pretty young guys.

and you are forgetting that there is a GM that makes roster moves. I know its convenient to blame the coach but that doesnt mean it makes a bunch of sense.

what are you basing this on? You keep going in circles and missing the main points. Isn't adelman a playoff coach? What does that have to do with being in the lottery? Rudy T's twilight years were lottery. Hence the change in coaching. Jvg brought us playoffs 3 out of 4 years. But not past the 1st round.

Adelman is our next step and should propell us past the 1st round.

    Baby steps

i never said adelman wasnt a playoff coach. I was talking about how jvg put houston basketball at least back on the map. Despite the "1st round exit" argument people blindly throw around, the rockets have actually meant something when it came to the playoffs.

and this is where i disagree. Adelman doesnt automatically propel the rockets past the first round. thats false hope my man. the rockets need to improve its roster first and foremost. That was THE biggest weakness. coaching was not.

Out of all the players you named only chuck qualifies as a young player that JVG "developed." I would not include Yao, Battier, and T-mac as young players, especially when the latter two are seasoned veterans. So that leaves Novak, Vspan, Luther, and Lucas. Of those 4, he only played Luther, and that was because of those injuries last year that he was forced to play and b/c of that, gained the pet status for JVG. So that's 2 of the 5 from this and last year alone.

You can't tell me you haven't noticed JVG's tendency to bring in veterans only?

    LOL!

    DonkeyMagic,

I know Gundy firing took its toll on you since you worshiped him all along. You still do. That's fine too. I respect that. We have freedom of religion in this country and you are entitled to Gundism. But time to step into reality.

He is gone. He has accepted it. You might wanna accept it too.

You also had some obsession with Rudy calling him drunkard etc. but relax....

We did not get Rudy back. We got Adelman.

If it makes you feel any better, even though Adelman was my choice for coach even before last season began (I even had it in my sig), if he fails to deliver playoffs series wins, I will not hesitate in voicing my opinion against him.

This is the NBA. They don't have tenure ship for coaches in this league.
