[FOX26] Rockets Pick Up Option For Goran Dragic

Why did they pick up Dragic's option, at this time, and not those of Thabeet, Hill, Flynn? I'm sure the CBA expiration is a factor, though we will surely have a chance to renew everybody else after the new CBA is signed.

Part of it is, they want to leave the ability to trade the others as expiring contracts, especially Thabeet. As for Dragic, I guess they are sending a message to somebody - probably to Dragic.

The 09 lotto busts Thabeet, Hill, Twill, and Flynn are all in their last guaranteed year, no option to pick up until after this coming season.

It would be interesting to see what Dragic could do as a starter for a season, after Lowry went out he was beasting especially on the boards. Not advocating to trade Lowry but it would just be interesting to see guys like Thabeet, Ppat, and Dragic all play starters minutes and see what they would produce.

I have noticed a few newbies since the draft, dont know if they all are here because of flynn, or probably just following the Rookies from college

I don't think so - we have until 10/31 (current CBA) before their third season to have them for their fourth season. The upcoming season will be their third.

 

We're more set now bc of Brooks.

Dragic is a two-way player.

 

C Lee is the insurance .along with Twill both of whom can play the point. No reason to carry a third PG on the 15 man roster when you have other guy's capable of filling the void.

 

DM will carry everybody he can, as assets, as long as he can. He only gives them up when he is SURE he's getting value back, or if he has to release somebody because of another trade.

I disagree. Did you watch them play last year at 1? They were disasters handling the ball and bringing the ball up. Lee was indecisive and Williams wouldn't run the offense. If we have to do that for the whole game, we're gonna get blown out every time.

One of the best backup pg's in the league. Well deserved.
