To be fair, Francis did not ask to come to Houston, he demanded to be traded out of Vancouver, and Houston put the best offer on the table. He is also not asking to stay here so much as demanding that Orlando get Shaq before he will agree to play there.

I was refering to Yao not getting position! The Lakers stopped Shaq from putting up big numbers because they weren't getting him the ball, which happened throughout the play-offs. Steve is no where near the ball hog Kobe is!

Actually, Shaq got enough touches, he just spent most of the series in foul trouble and couldn't hit any FTs. He picked up a lot of dumb fouls in the first half of most of the games.

I totally agree with the both of you.

People just won't get off his back, even when he's sadly not on our team anymore.

Shut up! Steve is a great player!

Yes, and brought a greater player back. Good for everyone.

Good for Stevie is the apparent real possibility he will finally get to call Chicago home.

I, for one, will continue to pull for him and Cat, even against Rox (as long as Rox win Rox win!).

I will also pull for Rudy to win in La La Land -- except against Rox.

(Heck, I even root for Moochie to get a game.)

He has a much better chance of making the playoffs in Orlando than he does in Chicago. Orlando had a bad year last year, but with the #1, 3/5 of our starters to instantly fill big holes, the possiblity of Hill coming back - they could make some noise in the East. I would a least say they won't repeat last year.

Well, the deal that was posted from some press, was that Francis would be traded anyway, even though he didn't want to play in ORL, since ORL would trade him to CHI for Chandler, Hinrich and Jerome Williams.

There could be a possibility that CHI would trade for Oneal, sending Curry/Crawford/ERob/Davis. That wouldn't leave much of a team left, though, although they'd have Oneal/Fizer/Johnson/Iguodala/Francis, which would go pretty far in the playoffs. Although, with Rudy coming on board in LA, I bet he talks Oneal into staying. So, without Oneal, CHI would have Curry/Fizer/ERob/Crawford/Francis, with Francis as THE MAN on a young team, which should go to the playoffs.

ORL would look pretty good in that scenario too, since they'd probably ship Chandler off to SEA for Lewis, and perhaps Gooden for some depth at C. They'd have Cato/Okafor or Howard/Lewis/Mobely/Hinrich, with a lot of depth.

You are right about staying in ORL, unless Francis meets up with Oneal in CHI. Even though I know that Francis likes CHI, and wants to walk in Jordan's footsteps, its possible that SEA would take Gooden for Lewis, and Francis could have a team that might go to the championships in the east with good depth, and a starting lineup of Cato/Okafor/Lewis/Mobely/Francis. He wouldn't have Ming, but that team is strong at every position.

All 3 teams would be better from the trades, but Houston clearly wins out with McGrady paired with Ming as the team most likely to win rings over the next 10 years.

DavidS, read the other posts here of R2k, BJ and FB.

You got what you wanted, now stop your b****ing. It's over. I'm not going to get into a silly debate where you recycle the same hackneyed points over and over and over again.

BTW, your crush on Nachbar tends to undercut most of your analysis, for future reference.

    To be fair, no.

You and I both know that Francis' first choice is to stay here. You and I both know that it is godawfully inconsistent for people here to b**** at him and his 'reputation' for wanting to stay a Rocket while salivating over T-mac who basically decided he doesn't want to stay in Orlando and is forcing a trade.

I've said it a thousand tiimes and I'll say it again. When people have legitimate complaints about Francis they deserve to be heard, when people start making up bullsh-t reasons to criticize him is when I take issue with it. This is a bullsh-t reason.

If Francis wanted to stay in Houston so much he should have done the following:

    1. Learned to run a fast break effiently.
    2. Learn how to hit a cutter on the pick and roll
    3. Learned how to play defense
    4. Learned how to shoot a jump shot at a decent percentage
    5. Learned how to care more about the team than his image.
    6. Learned how to operate Tivo to record the super bowl

All we learned from Steve is that he is an amazingly gifted athlete that is too stubborn to change.

    Good Riddance.

I love hearing all the breaking sports news from Mark Berman on a consistent basis. With that being said, I think Berman should have done the local sports franchise (that he covers consistently) a small favor & not aired his phone interview of Steve Francis airing his major frustrations with possibly being shipped to Orlando. I mean wait a half day or 24 hours once the deal is OFFICIAL. Not pursue a news story about the key players in a POTENTIAL trade that is not completed yet.

Does anyone think that this very interview from our local sports reporter may be what is postponing the blockbuster trade that will change the course of two (maybe 3 if we are so lucky:) )franchise's history?
