Yeah, if those were his only options then maybe, but you left out the most likely scenarios:

    - He signs an offer sheet for some amount up to the MLE. Houston either matches or lets him walk.

    - He agees to a contract with the Rockets for some amount up to the MLE.

Those are much more likely that Europe. Landry's agent is already backing off the Europe talk. Odds are he's a Rocket again next year.

This is so not good for the NBA. Want to believe it or not, $$$ is the number one factor of where a player goes. Sure, now the Euro league can only offer so much money. This Josh Childress signing immediately makes things more interesting, meaning more $$$ will be available to other, more talented players (even if its only because of name recognition). Just, this is so not good.

As I see it now, Rockets better make one hell of a good deal to Landry or he's in Europe. Landry could be at best a better than average player here, or potentially Shawn Kemp (at his peak mind you) in Europe.

i think you're way off there.

you think the euros are just throwing money around for fun? you think we're the only ones who are concerned about landry's knees?

and the euro league is getting better in a faster pace than we do. in fact, they have transported a lot of talented players to the nba in recent years.

True, very true, the NBA has transported some very good NBA type talent back and forth in the past few years. Some of those names will never get recognized here in America outside of the most in depth fans (cough, V-Span, cough). You have to admit, name recognition means a lot. You really think Childress is the best talent in the Euro league now? Oh hell no, but he is probably the most recognizable now and is only a stepping stone. As for Landry, you don't think a Euro league would take more a chance on Landry than an NBA team?

Then again, I don't think any of us really have the slightest clue on the exact status of Landry's knee.

I just fear that if he does go to Europe, he will be picked up by the international confederation known as the Spurs. Lord just don't let that happen.....

I would rather listen to Wayne Newton sing!

Even if he goes to Europe, we would still own his rights and he'd be a restricted FA if he ever decided to return.

If this is the case, I'd help him pack his bags to Europe if he won't sign for around 3mill.

That is the case but the problem with your suggestion is the Rockets aren't offering anything more than the qualifying offer unless he agrees to exploratory stuff. In addition the Rockets have made it clear they will match any offer. Which makes the few teams that might be interested back away. In reality if someone was stupid enough to pay at or near the full MLE I think management would allow Landry to walk. But Morey is not about to divulge that and in any way... he has done everything possible to make Landry less desirable on the market than he should be.

the lastest news said Euro team Tau (a spanish team)will give Landry $14 million foe 2 years.
I 'm afraid Landry will leave Houston for more money.

another news said Delonte West have recieved a contract about $10 million for 2years from a team in Euro. :( :( :(

Buddy Baker has really made a mess of things. And, unfairly, Landry is being shown in a negative way. The truth is, Landry before said himself that he wants to come back to Houston, and obviously the Rockets want him to come back. Both sides are in agreement. The only problem is if other teams are gonna offer him MLE money; then the Rockets have a tough decision. But really, at this point its a slim chance that happens. Landry is not a "big name" in the market, and I have not heard any team besides the Pacers showing any interest in him. Also, based on my own observations Carl doesn't appear to be the kind of guy who is interested in "the money". I might be kinda naive to think that, but I believe last year Al Jefferson refused a max contract cuz he felt he wasn't worth that money. Arenas also let some money go so that the Wizards could sign some players.

The Rockets can at least move on now if this is true. If they want to retain Landry's rights they can do so as well.

i wonder about that report. it is curious that landry's boastful agent wouldn't say anything about this first but thanks for passing it along. maybe it just came out of nowhere...who knows...this weak dollar is starting to really effect important things like my rockets! :D
