Ewwwwww!!! I'll let him off the hook if JD plays well. JD's got the strength and speed to own the paint in SL.
Not only can it give us leverage on Landrys agent, it can help out Dorsey. Here's to hoping Dorsey acts bad all Summer and into the season as well.
Maybe, but I have my doubts. Summer League is not a true indicator of how well one is going to do in the regular season. Dorsey will rebound/ defend but he is foul prone and isn't much of a scorer.Dorsey wants a fairly big chunk of the MLE IMO,( I admit I could be wrong). He shouldn't be low balled but the MLE will need to be split 3 ways between him,Landry, and Deke.Deke won't agree to the vets minimum. Dorsey's agent needs to know that his client won't get as much money as Greene, but Joey should be signed to a 2 year guaranteed contract if he does well in the Summer League.None of this 1 year deal stuff will do.
Dorsey's agent is zealous, I'm sure, but he's not crazy. The hangup on their end is likely the same as with Landry last year . . . that being, how much of a two-year minimum deal will be guaranteed. My guess is that Morey actually wants to use a portion (equal to the league minimum) of the MLE in order to sign Dorsey to a three-year deal (team option for Year 3) like the Rockets did for Novak in 2006.
Just looking at the box score, it looked like Dorsey showed up as advertised: 14 boards, 5 offensive, 4 for 4 from the field, a block and a steal, and 0 for 6 from the line. I figure if Joey Dorsey can bump up his ft shooting to even 60%, he'll have a long and successful career in the NBA. But whether he can actually do that or not is a major question mark at this point in his development.
They compare Dorsey's game like Ron Artes with out long range shots. I don't know but he is still a project. Hopefully he will turn out to be like Artest.
I don't know where you got that from, but that might be one of the worst comparisons I've ever read between any two players.
8 points on 4 for 4 ain't bad. Gotta love the 14 rebounds. 0-6 from the FT? He's definitely a Rocket.
http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2008/07/another_day_in_the_mcgrady_rum.html It sounds like the Rockets want to sign Dorsey to a 3 yr deal like they did with Novak using part of the MLE. That means they won't be able to sign Dorsey until after signing Landry.
