[FOX26] Adelman Would Like More Security for Him, Staff

    MARK BERMAN
    HOUSTON - Houston Rockets head coach Rick Adelman heads into his third season with the franchise with one year left on his contract.

    The fourth year of his deal with the Rockets is a team option.

    Adelman's regular season record during his first two years with Houston is 108-56.

    Considering the success he has had during that stretch he would like more security for him and his coaching staff, but accepts the situation as part of the business.

    Adelman's staff works under one-year contracts.

    Agreed. I think it would be silly to not extend him.

    I can't fathom any reason why Les wouldn't resign Adelman!

    Adelman has done a great job thus far.

    Especially considering all the injuries. .........Damn those injuries.

    Job security's likely difficult in today's economy. That said, this year has to be a wash for the coaching staff regardless of our result. So I can kind of see it happening.

    What's more likely: (1) Rockets decide the change the coach, (2) Adelman decides to change teams.

    Extend him. He deserves it and I don't want to see him leave.

    Depends on what we do in the 2010 offseason. Even so I'd say it's most likely he'll stay just because of the luxury of having Morey and Les around.

    Extend, hell yes, by all means, extend! Not even up for debate. Pay the man! We've got the best GM/Coach duo in the NBA, and Les should spare no expense to keep them together.

    I think having a respected coach like adelman locked up for 2010 and beyond would be a great tool for recruiting big name free agents. don't see the downside in adding a year to his contract. even if things go poorly this year, he wont get fired because everyone knows the injuries are so bad.

    I don't think there is a better coach to have then Rick. All that he has done the
    past two years is enough for any coach to get extended. Just think if we had
    a healthy roster what type of damage we could have done.

    Yes its always what if scenarios with this team, but Rick deserves an extension
