I hope your right because if he does start at any time this season that will mean JVG will like him and that also means he will be GOOD. I hope he is. If he started all it would do was make him better. On the other hand how would that affect our team chemistry? example : Sura or James might get a little upset. James I could care less since he is pretty much out at the deadline ,but Sura holds our team together at points. I don't know? All I know is I can't wait to see!!

EDIT: I am talking about Head sorry.

Defensively we have problems with Sura and James? For what, one playoff series?

Mike James is like Bruce Bowen defensively compared to NVE. NVE always been a poor defender, even way back when he actually had the physical tools necessary to become a good defender---too bad those are all but gone now.

You speak as if NVE is some kind of superior shooter compared to James. They're both streaky so look at the numbers and tell me again how inferior MJ is compared to NVE shooting-wise. The only element/form of contribution NVE could provide that James doesn't already is he's a pure playmaker.

No, the Mav's series was an aberration for what I saw from Sura and James last year. In Sura's case we know it was health. In James' case I posted here numerous times during the Mav's series that I was sure JVG gave him a green light to shoot first if he was open when he hit the court. James didn't even attempt to be a pg after game 2.

But yes, for all their hustle (and James' speed) I see them as defensive liabilites in any playoff series we're likely to have next year. I also believe that JVG wouldn't sign Dream or Jordan in their primes if he thought they'd not be able to play any defense (chuckle :D ). If JVG wants this guy at all I support signing him.

Agreed. Except ( :D ) NVE's stroke combined with the better playmaking ability is still a step up.

Regarding James I mean no disrespect: I was thrilled to get the guy and if someone had suggested last season that I'd be fine with ditching James for NVE I would have choked to death laughing. But I think T-Mac's right about the need for a pg upgrade now.

T-Mac showed how to break down the zones (or Seattle defense circa '92-'96) with Yao and I think we we need to give another pg a shot at doing it.

James is a casualty in all of this because of his trade value and the Sura/James combo limitations and because he's in a contract year and that's likely to curtail his somewhat limited playmaking abilities even more.

baller4life315, I don't disagree with you that much at all. If it wouldn't kill JVG (but it would) I'd be cool with Head or Spanoulis playing 15-20 minutes a game with Sura or James starting.

I'm just sick of not having a real pg - even one who takes a shot too often like NVE. But maybe he wouldn't here, I will go with JVG's take on this all the way.

i see head being more of a 2 for us than a 1.if we keep our lineup as is i still seein sura playing our pg and if head does evolve which i have a feeling he will i see taking over wesley's spot.not the starting pg spot.we draft him for a reason....hes part of the plan as been told to us!

I doubt that this statement has been true since 1992 or so.

is Nick really any better than Mike James? Seems like anything Nick can do, mike can do better. If we aren't going to trade any guards . . . sign a back up for T-Mac. Patience is a virtue

Van Exel can take over a game. I have yet to see Mike James dominate.

players arent allowed to be on injury reserve anymore due to being too old or scrubs; they actually have to be injured in order to be on the ir list now. i guess stern should have called this the cedric henderson rule.

Stop posting guys if you don't know what you're talking about.
Nick STILL has it! It's just that - how would anybody be motivated on a team with no chemistry and no winning attitude?
He would be great!! Another one to be afraid of...

I believe he meant that the team would be going after Free agents, ala Swift. The point of making more sense means that - it would not have made sense to pick up a power foward in the draft simply to pick up a power forward. Besides, Head is an athletic guy who shows some promise . .

Yeah, but he'll only be showing it in practice if this keeps up.

Seriously, no more FA signings. Let's trade some quantity for quality.
