That argument would be great if Jaric was going to take 1.8m. I think Nick would be a good pickup. You could do a lot worse with a 1 year 1.8m contract. If it happens though, there has to be another move coming.

with his 39% 3 pt shot, nve still has value. however, i'm not sure how he fits in. sura, james, nve, wesley, barry is a pretty talented backcourt (with no stand out, though) but the biggest problem is none can play the 3. so who plays and who doesn't?

sura was valuable enough last year that he should still be the starting pg. james was good and shouldn't lose the backup pg spot to nve.

wesley has the defensive speed we need at the 2 and a solid (if very streaky) shot and we just signed barry and so one would figure he's going to get playing time, especially considering how good he was last year.

so where does nve play? and who loses out if he plays? i suppose whoever played sf when we would go small and tmac played pf to guard nowitzki could play sf, but that's a special situation, not a game in, game out lineup.

we would be better served with a backup 2/3 than van exel, however i won't have a problem if we sign nve. that 3 pt shot is always worth something in the nba.

as a side note, if we do sign him, man we would have a lot of talented players, at least on paper. yao and deke form one of the best C rotations in the nba. swift and howard ensure that whoever comes off the bench, they'll be an above average bench player. we have no backup sf but with tmac, that's fairly irrelevant. and then the 5 guards mentioned above who all have game. that's a solid 10 man rotation. and that's after we basically burned 4 spots on moochie, baker, ward, and spoon.

He might be Streaky, but he is still a great outside threat. he can creat off the dribbl and score heavily. his game is a replica of Mike james. i think sura or james or even wesley could very well get traded now!

Yall think they might be acquiring NVE because they are planning to use Wesley or Sura in a package deal?

Say no to NVE. He is the same type of player as Mike James, only older and slower. I'll take James as my back up point guard over NVE any day.

There really is a log jam at guard. Unfortunately its jammed with short guys. We need a bigger guard that can shoot lights out. I don't think that is going to be there this year, so we are just going to have to go to battle with what we have. Its sufficient for a deep run, and maybe we can pick up that guard next year.

Question: Do we get an MLE every year?

If the Roxs move anyone, I hope it's Wesley and not James, if for any reason James is just younger

Why does everyone thinks NVE got a game like Mike James? They are total opposites. NVE is quicker with the ball and can create his own shot (and for others) off the dribble but offers nothing on the defensive end. Mike James plays a little bigger and is a solid defensive player who can hit the open shot but his drives are so out of control and cannot create his own shot consistently.

As long as we are over the salary cap, yes.

Nick's done. Let's sign Deke, cut a player (Vin or Moochie), get a 3 and ride the Sura/James pg up to the Trade deadline.

Just caught a quick blurb on 610 about NVE

NVE: "I'm trying to do it early. I'm trying to do it soon because I want to get it over with. I want to get familiar with the facilities where I'm going to be at and try to find a home, or if I'm here, I already have a home."

You have to remember that we aren't going to get everything we want in a PG with less than 2mil to spend. To me, the number 1 priority is to get a lightning quick point who can guard opposing ones. I'd be great to have a distributor who can penetrate and knock down the 3 and create his own shot and all that, but we need someone who can stop PGs from getting into the lane and giving Yao (and Stro) foul trouble. Lue wouldn't look bad right now, even though he doesn't run an offense or penetrate. We need to close the paint to penetration.

Oh, I forgot to mention, to that end, I'm a huge NVE fan, always have been, since college, but he can't move quickly enough to play D. Unless James learns to be an absolute lock down guy, then getting NVE is great for creating shots and running the offense with TMac and Yao on the bench—in that way he'll be a good shot in the arm—but he has neither the D nor the endurance to fit our needs. I don't know who's out there who does.

Career averages of 15 ppg, 7 apg, 35% 3pt, and 80% FT, not bad... but I still want Finley!

The Suns let Johnson go, so Finley is definitely going to Phoenix.

Apart from that, I really really REALLY do not want to see NVE in a Rox uni.

What happened to getting younger and more athletic in the back court?

    NVE gets us neither.

I mean on paper he looks like a bargain if we could grab him for LLE money, but I just don't know if there's room for him here. If we sign NVE, does that mean Barry's gone? Where does all the PT go? Is NVE gonna be our starting PG with Mike James backing him up? Does Luther Head get any PT then?

    I just don't get it.
