Good work gucci888, thats a very real good assesment of the west. I remember last year every writer and tv analyst had the Spurs with the best offseason because of the Brent Barry signing, but he really did nothing for them during the season.
I think Phoenix actually had a decent offseason. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Matching Joe Johnson's max contract would have been stupid, and that is what it would have taken to keep him. Instead they worked out a deal to get two 1st round picks and a borderline prospect for him, plus a sizeable trade exception. I did not like the Q trade, but Kurt Thomas is a serviceable player and should help them in the playoffs where the run-n-gun BS doesn' fly. I don't see how none of the WC teams get an a grade, but two of the stupidist deals in the offseason (the Hawks getting Joe Johnson for their firstborn and immortal soul and the 90 million clams that the Bucks spent on Michael "mediocre shooting guard" Redd, honorable mention to paying Simmons 8 mil per annum) earn their teams A or A+ marks.
He did help win them Game 1 against Phoenix. Granted, they won that series 4-1 anyway, but he was on fire that game.
And the worst a West team got was a "C-." Basically he's saying no team made a drastic change in the offseason. Not enough to warrant an A. Not enough to warrant an F, let alone a D.
