They called a Houston team "young." I don't think I've ever heard the Astros or the Rockets referred to as young in my life.
I humbly disagree. Tejada is an MVP calibre player at shortstop. In the history of the franchise only Dickie Thon has ever been remotely comparable (and we're talking really remote..like Alaska remote). I think Lidge is someone the Astros should be using a trade chip because of his value and history of arm problems (and possible Mitch Williams mental meltdown candidacy). The only untouchables are Oswalt and Berkman in my opinion.
1991-1993. "Young Guns of the West". They were losing like crazy, yet it was still entertaining and those players won the hearts of much of Houston.
I agree largely with this, outside of the Mitch Williams comparison. Additionally, I would only trade Pettitte if there is a really good starter coming in return--the Astros aren't *that* deep that they can just send off their #2 starter.
It seems like the Astros have been looking for a good, young, fast center fielder for the last 20 years. They finally get him and their trying to trade him.
there is absolutely nothing like spending a sunny sunday afternoon at the ballpark watching the Stros. that is an awesome package.
I'm feeling a hot start this season- By May 1st I think Roger will be about ready to sign also... Watch for Brandon Backe to bouce back and go about 15-10 Roy and Andy are going to be tough at the top of the rotation. I think Berkman may have his best season.... Pumped and ready. KEEP THE BULLPEN INTACT
They're not concerned about him mentally. They're very concerned about his arm due to his mechanics - "Shoulder injury waiting to happen" is the phrase du jour among the baseball people. He's also about to start making serious - like $9M serious - money. I hope he stays healthy, kicks serious arse this season & well into the playoffs, and is dealt next offseason. We'll see.
I'm debating getting a set of 2 cheapo seats, or getting just 1 GOOD seat. :lol I can never find anyone to go with me anyway, my baseball loving friends are out of town. :\
Sunny? They keep the roof shut the majority of the time to allow you to bake underneath the lights, while not allowing any breeze to come in. MMP is actually hotter with the roof closed than open.
We need to throw them one of our pitching prospects and get that deal done. Just as Carpenter is not likely to repeat last year, neither is Lidge. He's a great reliever but we gotta get Tejada in here. Biggio Burke Tejada Berkman Ensberg Lane Wilson Catcher or Taveras Biggio Tejada Berkman Ensberg Wilson Burke Catcher
Not debating whether or not Lidge should be used as trade bait (since he was), but what exactly has he done to suggest he won't be as effective as the past two seasons. The NLCS and WS were an aberration, not the norm.
