Listen WNBA, I don't give a darn if Dwight Howard plays 82 games for 25 yrs straight, he is not a better player than Yao. All Howard can do is dunk and rebound. He can't shoot free throws, he does not have an offensive game whatsoever and Yao pawns him one on one. Yes Howard gets his occasional dunk, but he is one dimensional and WILL have his share of injuries afterall he is human
yao still has 19 ppg career vs. 16.5 ppg for howard and thats with 82% games played for Yao vs. 100% games played for Howard Howard has 2.93 TO pg vs 2.65 for Yao Yao has 1.8 bpg to howards 1.7 Yao has 1.6 apg to howards 1.4 all this in 32.5 mins pg for Yao to Howard's 36 Yes howard rebounds better per career avg, but Yao has 23% better FT career avg., better avgs in the above categories, better offesive game and all done in fewer minutes per game and fewer games played which affects Yao's rhythm and continuity.
Yo really think no GM would take Howard over Yao? You can't really believe that. I say about most of the GM's would go with Howard. Now I'm not saying Howard is better becasue to mke I say its a tie I can't choose. But let me remind you that hes only 22 and putting up 22 and 14 type numbers.
he has 16.5 ppg career avg and 12.2 rpg career avg., hardly 22/14. He has only one year that he went 20.7 and 14 rpg. You don't know if that is going to be consistent. Wow, he can dunk and rebound. What do you do when you are in a close-fought series and your game/series depends on a free throw or two? You put D. Howards 59% ft shooting arse on the line or Yao's 83%? Just because you're a GM in the NBA does not mean your smart, take a look at SA lately.
because he does not have a complete offensive game, very one dimensional--he can only dunk on offense and can't shoot free throws. Yao truly makes him look bad one on one.

The whole Dwight better than Yao stuff is based on the fact that Dwight is much younger and they think he will get better. Plus, last season he had the better season. Of course, you can pin that on a lot of factors: the fact that Yao isn't the #1 playmaker on the team, injuries, coaching philosophy.. etc. I'll take Yao's skill set over Howards. I wish Yao had Dwights ability to defend faster players, but I'll take Yao's flexability on offense (dude can score multiple ways from basically anywhere inside 15 ft).
Marcus Camby is a very good shot-blocker, he's overrated as an overall defender, but not as an interior defender.
Seriously? Dwight was considered the best big men in the league, not just best big center, he was considered the best big men by Dwyane Wade and Stephen A. Smith, they are overrating him by A LOT, Dwight doesn't even demand double teams, Jason Maxiell and the Pistons were able to shut him down with 1 on 1 defense, and watching Team USA it doesn't seem like his post game has progressed.
lets see....what websites do i visit for sports news? clutchfans.com espn.com nba.com i think i read foxsports only when they have something covering our local teams. it's never a priority for sports news. fox sports is trash just like fox news! nas- sly fox
Guys, they are doing this to get traffic. With Yao and Batman listed, guess how many Chinese fans will click through to Fox? There, they just double the advertisement revenue. Whatever you do, don't click through to Fox.
I'll educate you on the Magic. Howard is FAR from the # playmaker on that team. Think Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson. Injuries: It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see Howard is built much sturdier than Yao. Just take a look at both guys and consider at their injury history. Howard is built like a tank compared to Yao. He's 40-45 lbs lighter and 7 inches shorter. Coaching philosophy: Has zero to do with it. In fact, Stan Van Gundy called Howard out publicly last season and said he needed to adjust his attitude and focus on defense and rebounding instead of scoring. Howard wanted the ball more and SVG stopped him cold. When healthy, Yao might still be better but Howard 4-year progression (12/10, 16/13, 17/12, 21/14) and the fact he's still only 22 leads to a logical conclusion: He will surpass Yao the next couple of seasons, maybe even next season. If Yao has another major injury, Howard is already better.
