wait wait, time out. Yao is overrated by who? If anything, going by everything the media calls him, you would think he is at par with Kaman. So nope, Yao is NOT overrated by any measure. In fact, he doesn't get his due share. On the other hand Battier is definitely overrated... by the media, by the coaches and by fans here. He is a very good defender but come on, thats about it. He is a James Posey nothing more nothing less.
yea... people would didn't even want to trade Shane for Artest! heck they would trade TMac over Shane here. Oh well. I love Battier but lets call a spade a spade. In my books, he is so overrated in that list of 5 that its not even close.
With a decent bench, that team could win 65+ games. I don't see how any of these players are overrated. First, DWade is Miami. He is the reason they won the title. When healthy, he is most likely 2nd best shooting guard in the league. Second, how is Marion overrated, I never seen him on too many all-NBA teams or even alot of all-star games. In fact,he's underrated for what he does...20 and 10 as 6,7 SF player who can play Pf. Third, how is Robert Horry overrated when he is not rated at all? He is on the bench most of the game and really doesn't play until playoff time and comes to hit a few big shots. That is only thing I hear about him. Lastly, Isn't Battier one of best defensive players in the league, certain should be All-NBA? In fact, if anyone is overrated it should be Kobe's (Chris Pauls)defense, which is certain not the best for wings. Outside of his defense, most know Battier is only utility player, but very good utility player. Also, Yao I am not touching, because it will only inflate this thread uselessly. Two things, though. How can a top 2 center be overrated, while he averages over 22 ppg a game and his team doesn't get out of 1st round without him?
I can understand Battier being overrated - i mean, he's given so much praise for mediocre numbers - hustling isn't always enough. But Yao? I mean, he gets a lot of criticism, is called soft all the time, and still puts up good numbers and helps his team win. I mean, he shots over 50% from the line, is a good rebounder, and blocks shots. He's an all-star center, and isn't even considered the best big man in the game although he puts up the best big man numbers. And yet he's over-rated???? I find it a big strech.
Fox Sports Is SO Overrated that I wouldn't even rate them. And this is coming from Clutchfans so you know it has credibility.
T-Mac is the most talented player in the league. He's dropped off a bit because of injury, but when completely healthy he is easily up there with KG, Paul, and Howard.

The reason people think Shane is overrated is because he is considered the perfect role player. People talk about his intangibles all the time, and then people go back and look at his offensive stats and then compare that to all the attention he gets and call him overrated. But the thing is, no one has ever called him anything more than an above average scorer. They always say the same thing: great defender, good spot up shooter from 3, great leader, smart player.
Yao is better - if only because he's more experienced and makes better decisions. That may change in a few years, but from what I see, Yao is better. And trust me, I am no homer.

Yes, Dwight Howard is overrated honestly, they say Dwight is the best big man of all not just best center best big man, He's the most overrated player in the game. Dwight > Duncan??? c'mon, No one rates Yao above Duncan and Dwight is not even better than Yao.
im not trying to over rate Yao... but u cant deny the facts, fundamentally, Yao is a far more superior player than dwight howard, facts will back it up, and if u check their head to head match ups, it will show that Yao eats Howard alive.. and one more thing... Dwight can dunk the ball whenever he wants to... Yao can dunk the ball whenever he wants to... Yao can shoot the ball whenever he wants to...
