Probably would take Green/Jabari/Cam plus picks. He's like in between superstars and the bottom stars.
I don't think Sacramento's serious about trading away Fox. But if they do, I assume it would be something like Reed + all our good picks. The guy is 26yr old and has made an All-NBA team. I imagine OKC/Orlando/Utah/SA would all put in pretty huge offers if he's on the table.
Yeah it’s hard to take anyone seriously when they make comments like that. Better off just saying you haven’t seen him play enough to know if he’s worth trading for.
Well add me to the list of those you can’t take serious it always depends on the cost, but Fox would instantly be the best player on this team.
We on the same page. I’m talking about people saying Fox is not that much more talented than Green or Fred is crazy. I want Fox in a Rockets uniform.
I know what other teams have done, but I don't think that fits the vibe of the Kings owner with Fox. IMO, the very last thing VIvek Ranadive wants to do is a complete rebuild of the Kings, which for such a small insignificant market means trash basketball for at least the next 5-6 years. He has a legit franchise PG and doesn't want to give him up. I don't blame him. It isn't just about possibly having a chance to compete for a chip some day in the distant future. It's about putting a product on the floor home fans want to come see right now.
I think you may have misunderstood the guy you were responding to that led to the post I was responding to when I misunderstood But I may have misunderstood
That's foolishness. We won 10 something games in a row with Sengun hurt and Jock Landale starting. Replace Sengun with a KAT like player and not only are we better defensively we're also playing faster and better spaced. Sengun just got outplayed by Isiah Hartenstein bro, we're not losing a top 5 player
Smaller market yet California itself is a pretty big arse state...... And since Adelman, Webber, Peja, Divac, Bibby, the Kings are on the NBA map somehow.
Would love Fox on this team but I'm not super confident in Ime's ability to get him the same shots he's getting in Sacramento under Brown. Fox has a LOT of the same limitations as Green (though on a different scale). Fox is good at attacking a well-spaced paint with lots of ball and off ball movement. He's not good at taking many 3's. He's not good at muscling his way to the basket. He really needs to get to the line. He's not a floor general, more like a 2:1 asst:to ratio. Might not be the right player for Ime. I'd wait. Also, if Kings are blowing it up, please try to get Mike Brown as assistant coach.
I like Fox but I think he would make FVV less useful on this team. So, our 3rd best player would be our backup PG unless you play them together and then you're not getting the most out of both of them. Ideally, you get a bigger player that can play with our remaining team on the wings. You really just want someone that replaces Jalen in the lineup and does everything better.
I can see your point about Fox not getting the spacing here he does in Sac, but I don't know if it's so much about the coaching as the players. I'd say if you get the chance, you pull the trigger and worry about fixing the spacing later. Fox is vastly superior to Green on offense. Hell, maybe you even get Sac to include one of their shooters in the trade. Maybe find some way to increase our offer in return for getting Monk back as well, for instance.
Oh man, it has so much to do with coaching. No other coach was able to get it out of Fox. He'd be the best offensive player on our team but his efficiency would no doubt dip if we don't change anything else and just have him take 8-9 3PA per game. It's not a marginal change, he's going from great spacing (prior to this season) to the worst spacing in the league. I don't know if he's good enough to shoulder that and score at near the same efficiency he's been scoring in Sacramento. You would have to upgrade the shooting a lot. Fox is not a Harden. He's not going to make his way to the basket in an ugly offense. You have to gear your offense to make space for him and use his quickness. Frankly if we're going this route I'd much rather have Trae Young. If you're going to have someone come tackle this offense, let it be someone who can bring 3's and assists. Someone who alleviates the problems we have. Both are negative defenders anyway, I don't see the point of going for Fox unless we're immediately going to upgrade the shooting at the 2/3/4. Sengun, Amen and Fox on the floor together? Terrible. We'd be repeating the exact same Kings' mistakes that led to Fox becoming available in the first place.
still miles better and actually has skills aside from running straight forward at full speed and jumping high Assists per Game Fox 5.9 Green 2.7 Drives per Game Fox 16.4 Green 9.1 ISO Fox 37.2 percentila Green 9.9 P&R Ball Fox 93.2 Green 49.7 Spotup Fox 78.2 Green 48.2 Putback Fox 99.2 Green didn't qualify
Fun fact: I used to live in Benicia. Other than the Zodiac killer making his first kill near there... the other pride & joy is that it used to be capital of California
Fox is fool's gold. He doesn't fit this team at all. He is not a good 3 pt shooter, never has been. He's a point guard that has to get to the rim to be effective. We need spacing not more of the same. People need to be patient. If Jalen doesn't work out he will be a big part of a package to get someone better. He is 22 and shown flashes of greatness. Someone will bite on that potential. If Green was playing for the Lakers, he'd be going to the line 15 times a game.
In-state rivals are circling https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6010644/2024/12/21/deaaron-fox-kings-contract-trade-nba-spurs/ But when Rich Paul spent his Thursday evening at Golden 1 Center for the opener, seated in that corner courtside chair across from the home team’s bench, it had nothing to do with James or Davis. This visit was all about De’Aaron Fox — and the danger zone the Kings have entered regarding the uncertain future of their franchise guard. League sources say Paul — who sat next to Fox’s wife, Recee, throughout the 113-100 loss that dropped the Kings to 13-15 and 12th in the West — was in Sacramento to meet with general manager Monte McNair and assistant general manager Wes Wilcox before the game. The discussion, league and team sources said, was focused on an existential question that needs to be answered if this partnership that began eight seasons ago between Fox and the Kings is going to continue long term. What’s the plan here? “I want to make sure that we’re in a position to try to win in the future, because that’s ultimately what I want to do,” Fox, who turned 27 on Friday, told Green and fellow former player Baron Davis. “For me, it’s ‘Are we looking like we’re continuing to get better year after year, and ‘Are we going to be able to compete at a high level?” Yet for all the focus on the financial aspects of his contract decision — he can qualify for a five-year, $345-million supermax deal if he earns an All-NBA selection — his holistic view of it all has never been more clear. Annual contention is the aim. While league sources say Fox has not asked for a trade, the former All-Star and his prominent agent are reading the room in Sacramento before deciding what comes next. Fox, who hired Paul in November 2022, has another season left on his current deal. And now, the prospect of him declining an extension again this summer — or perhaps telling them ahead of time that he plans on doing so — would inevitably force the Kings to consider trading Fox rather than losing him for nothing in free agency two summers from now. Meanwhile, rival executives are monitoring the Fox situation closely and league sources say one team in particular — the San Antonio Spurs — is positioning itself to pursue the Houston native as a possible partner for Victor Wembanyama, should Fox become available. Barring a significant Kings turnaround, others are surely close behind.
