Fox is terrible. If he was good, the kings would be better. Stars carry their team to good records.

I can't really blame people for not watching the Kings because they are very boring and nobody gives a care about them outside of Sacramento.

What I can do is blame clowns here who claim to know what Fox is but are ignorant about him because they haven't seen him play more than once or twice (or not at all).

Fox needs a re-set. Bring him home.

    FVV+Reed or Cam+2025 pick (top 5 protected)+Future 1st

Marc Stein (with sources) throws some cold water on the Rockets FO wanting to pursue Fox. From today 1/2:

    https://marcstein.substack.com/p/to-be-traded-or-not-to-be-all-things

"As you would expect with a player of Fox's caliber, he is already at the center of leaguewide trade chatter even though the Kings have not yet begun to solicit offers. San Antonio and the two Florida teams (Miami and Orlando) have been the most frequently cited potential trade suitors for the lefty, who has scored one NBA All-Star selection and earned All-NBA honors in 2022-23.

One key wrinkle that we can pass along at this early juncture is that the Houston Rockets — widely described as a team likely to jump to the front of the line if (when?) Fox is made available for trade — should be assessed with much more nuance than has been circulating.

League sources tell The Stein Line that it is by no means an automatic that the Rockets would pursue Fox should he be made available after the season.

Media links between the Rockets and an eventual Fox trade chase have been incessant in recent days and perhaps that's not so surprising given a couple pertinent factors. Fox, for starters, is a Houston native. Also: Unlike Miami's Jimmy Butler or Phoenix's Kevin Durant, Fox does fit the Rockets' timeline much better than any player in his 30s. And that's no small consideration given the consistent messaging out of Houston all season: The Rockets have maintained for months that A) they do not want to make an in-season trade of significance and B) timeline fit will be a major consideration when they do make their next major move because the roster is filled with so many recent first-round draft picks on the rise. Houston officials like how the current roster is developing and coalescing.

    However ...

It is clear based on this week's reporting that the Spurs, as things stand, should be classified as the Texas team more likely to pursue a down-the-road Fox trade."
Seems like he's San Antonio's primary target, and not Houston's.

This is good news because it gives the Rockets a chance at him. They are likely determined to stay the course and ride the season out with their current hand, which I'm fine with.

Like many here, I have very strong feelings about each player after 32 games, but there are 50 more games + a playoff series left and a whole lot can change. March and April (and May?, heh heh) is where the true stress test begins. Those games will mean more than what we've seen so far.

Fox has shot under 33% from 3 in 5 of his last 6 seasons.

What is Houston’s long term success angle with Fox, Sengun and Amen as your 3 best players?

We see what the spacing looks like now with guards shooting 32% from 3, should we really gut the teams assets for this, knowing our ceiling will have a limit?

it’s also been rumored that Klutch Sports wants him in San Antonio. I’m not expecting Fox to be traded until the offseason and I’m not the biggest fan. A guy like Cason Wallace could end up being a better player. But if Houston is in play for Fox, at least in the offseason Jalen can be included in a deal. I would be very disturbed if Jalen wasnt part of any outgoing package for a player like Fox.

What type of package are spurs going to average.. I doubt they’re offering Castle. We know it’s not Wemby. Their other prices aren’t that inciting. They’re going to center package around Vassell?

My reading is that they aren't likely to trade Fox until the off-season anyway, and I think the Rockets want to see how all these young guys do in play-off situations before making major moves, something I think is right. I'd only do a small trade for a back-up C upgrade, three point shooter, or a bench creator this season. The off-season I start looking at bigger moves.

If we do make a move for him, it's probably this off-season in a package centered around Jalen + Picks. Possibly Reed Sheppard included in there, which hopefully him and Jalen minimize the amount of picks required.

I am not Jalen Green's biggest fan. That said, I would rather send out expiring contracts and keep Jalen Green. I'd rather not have to send out even more assets to move Green when he can still provide value on the court and he still has potential to get better.

Jalen provides most of his value on offense. 3pt% and TOs drastically hurt how Jalen provides value. 3pt% and TOs also drastically hurt Amen's value, but Amen is so much better defensively and he provides value on offense as a cutter, connective pice, and as an offensive rebounder.

Go look at where JG ranks in TOs among SG and look at who is above him - JG and Alpi avg the same TO a game (2.5) for as much as both players handle the ball for our team that’s not bad at all

Amen benefits on offense because of JG and Alpi ( he can play the dunkers slot) his dribbling isn’t great under pressure which is why he doesn’t play backup PG and another reason we drafted Reed

Amen is a 3/4 with ability to guard 1-4 …aka a bigger more athletic better defending KMartinJr. in no way shape or form is that man a 2 guard

To clarify, I'm not saying we can't make future trades and that we won't have future draft picks.

The rockets currently have multiple elite future assets - the suns' picks and multiple well thought of young prospects. These assets can get virtually anyone that is available. So, when we use them, it's our homerun play.

As this team grows, it's own picks become less and less desirable and it's players become vets instead of prospects. A few late 1st rd picks won't beat out mid/early 1st rd picks or teams with young guys they're willing to part with. Also, the Fox we trade for at 27 won't have the same value at 30.

The moves we make after trading the Phx picks will be smaller and ultimately less impactful.

    And, maybe that's good enough.

I'm just saying our current crop of assets that we're willing to trade are the best we'll have with this group.

Negotiating 101. Lower expectations. Appear indifferent. "I can walk away from this at any time."

Fox is an expiring. Technically he's a rental. When negotiating, FVV + one young core. No picks. FVV by himself already fills a positional need for the Kings.

Keep the PHX picks if possible, since that's more valuable to the Suns, and could be used later if swinging for a Booker deal.

It doesn’t matter what rich paul wants. I’ve said it before, if fox wants to be here we can surely make it happen.
