i would rather they sign baxter. when bowen tried to bust a move in the playoffs, it was embarassing to watch. hes got to be the most uncoordinated person in the NBA.
Well, with his choatic body movement on the court, and him flapping his arms all over the place, that tends to make opponents lose focus and think he's a headcase or something. So on a second thought, he might actually be useful, I think Floppiski is scared of Bowen, the same way Rodman used to get into the head of the Mailman and make him mess up.
I was hoping for the latter. This boggles my mind. Where do we have room for Ryan Bowen? I guess there will be some cuts. Maybe there is a trade in the works.
Why are some people acting like this is a bad thing? I'm sure we just signed him to a two-year minimum deal similar to what we gave Adrian Griffin. He's just going to be an end of the bench type role player like last year. He's a good chemistry guy. This suggest to me that we're probably going to see some of the guys like Moochie and/or Baker jettisoned in a S&T... Just a thought, but it would make sense. Keep in mind, Padgett's probably gone.
I think the coaching staff finds Bowen's value in his energy especially in practice. Bottom line, he plays hard and with endless energy. It's the kind of spirit a team needs to keep up intensity. How can you not root for a player like him? All hustle, all heart.
could it be for a possible SnT...nah that cant be it wouldnt make sense. Im confused why the rockets are working to re-sign bowen first. Maybe its because he is willing to work for the gum under the seats or something, or he is free
Bowen is good for chemistry... hmm. And he hustles and comes cheap...hmm. The bottom line here is we need a backup for T-Mac to play 6 mpg. This signing tells me we're now looking exclusively at guards. I have to say this. I thought those who expected Bowen back were a little insane. If they'd said it was going to be a 2 year deal I would have laughed. Ugh. Regardless, it still makes some sense.
Having Ryan Bowen in the Rockets' twelve man roster is a good thing. He may not have a lot of talent, but he hustles, and that still counts for something in the NBA. No, he is not going to fill up the box scores... ever , but he can , once and awhile, be the spark off the bench. When the Rockets are lacking energy in mid January, he will be there. I'm sure his hustle also motivates others in practice.
There should be little surprise at this considering that JVG outright said during the playoffs (not verbatim quote) "we'd like to have him here for as long as he wants to be with us." This was said in the context of Bowen's contract ending this summer.
No, it isn't. This is the kind of player that Van Gundy will always have on his roster at the end of the bench. The only option that fell through was Madsen re-signing with the T-Wolves. Van Gundy wants a fighter/scrapper/overachiever on the squad. Bowen fits that mold. Hopefully, we can still keep Chuck Hayes and develop him but I kinda doubt it after this signing.
