That is the MLE with the 12% raises every year.

    first year 4.9
    second year 5.48
    third year 6.15
    fourth year 6.88

Add it all up and it equals roughly 24 million a year.

24mil is MLE with the fastest annual increase.

All you guys complaining about the absense of D without Posey will be very suprised this year. Posey may have played the right way, but with JVG, EVERY player will have to play all of the game in the right way. Defense will still improve in quantum leaps this year. Posey at 6 mill is a joke, JVG can get a hussle player similar to Posey for less money and make him more effective within our new system. Lets just hope we make a couple of key additions to keep up with the rest of the western giants. Please do something CD...

James Posey is much more deserving of a $24 million contract than Mo Taylor is of a $48 million deal or Moochie's $22 million contract. In essence, our own bad contracts kept us from retaining my man JP.

I wish him all the luck in Memphis. The guy played hard, and brought it every night. Damn shame he won't play for Van Gundy.

i really, really, really wanted james posey back but not for that contract. maybe if we don't have mo or mooch bending us over we match but it'd still be overpaying, imo. i was thinking along the lines of 3-3.5 mil.

this is not anywhere near a make or break signing. posey's greatest asset was playing the passing lanes and making great individual plays on defense but as a man-to-man defender he was well behind cat for best on the team. hawk can do posey's job competently and at the same time free us to add a shooter such as pike.

As a side note, did you know that quantum does not mean big? From the latin it means measurable, and in physics it means the smallest amount that can exist independently. Damn you Scott Bakula and Donald P. Bellasario for currupting a word for a generation of people. *shakes fist*

Playing results in sweating. Sweat in stitches can bring infection.

What do you folks think about Badiane possibly making the team? The Summer League reports paint him as a Posey-ish player.

Interesting. Can Malick stay with 3s? Heard his speed is amazing but laterally he doesn't wow you.

I was hopeful the Rockets could've signed Posey on the cheap.

Some people were saying Posey was not going to get more than $3 million per year which of course was totally bogus.

Anything less than the MLE wouldve been a steal.

Memphis paid full price and with all our existing bad contracts, I understand why we wouldn't want to take that chance.

Posey was a good player but certainly not a slam dunk.

So EG is going to be our starting 3 and MoT is going to have to earn his keep, because we certainly cannot rely on Boki and Tmo was jettisoned.

Interesting! I thought that was not allowed.

As for losing Posey, I dislike it, and I still think the Rockets will match after signing someone else, like Piatkowski. But Posey is replaceable. Jumaine Jones, maybe. Too bad Walter McCarty re-signed with Boston -- you guys would've loved him!

I liked JP and his hard nosed play, but sorry no more bad contracts. Good luck in Memphis JP!
